Juader
Last week, i believe wednesday, the whole net crashed because of f-secure, my brother uninstalled it, net worked, installed it, it didn't work, this continued for hours until we finally found some program to help us. Now thursday(sp? i've forgot since not been using for years :P) *brother went back home wednesday eve* the internet started cranking, thanks f-secure it goes out every hour at the same time everyday. I know i'm not the only one with this, one relative and some other people have had same problem. anyone know a cure? VIX VIX VIX

OldJoe
Yeh, I've been thinking of getting Avast! instead of this, just need sister to come here  since i'm a newbie in computer stoof Weird problem, never heard anything like this with any anti virus program. I'm using Panda so i can't really help you, but have you thought of emailing or posting and F-securities forum? This problem seems very strange to me, the only thing i had to do with my AV was to accept program X to connect to the net. Hmm, i would suggest you try AVG or Avast! For a couple of days (disable or uninstall F) and see if the problem still remains. If it does remain, there is something very strange going on which i couldnt explain. If it works perfectly to surf with one of those AV's installed, then it could be a bug... This is the only thing i can think of. We have never had a problem, and F-secure has saved our computer at least 100 times (Remember, PCs are hacked within minutes of going online) and we have only had a problem with Norton Antivirus. Sbrideau
Impressed with Norton? :wall: I'd say, if you like suites, get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. It is the best currently in the market. If you want a good free one, download antivir or Avg, though avg is not the best. McAfee, Norton, Avast are right at the bottom of the list. They're part of the worst antiviruses. Although I have heard Avast is willing to improve their product. I have never heard of F-secure so I can't help here. NOD32 is the way to go if you only want an antivirus. I have used an antivirus/firewall/spyware protector program two separate times since I first started the Internet in 1995. First time was around 1996, when it Norton killed a computer. Second time was about three years ago, when I first had high speed and I thought I needed it. Lasted about 3 weeks before I got rid of it. I haven't had any problems with being "hacked" since then. I don't see how you talk about getting your "facts" from a good source, and say something like what I bolded in your post in the same post. He's actually somewhat correct. Prior to XP SP2, Windows machines plugged into the internet without some kind of router or firewall between them and the outside world could literally be infected in minutes because of all the security holes. SP2 and later updates have made that a much smaller problem but that still doesn't mean you get to shoot him down just because you haven't experienced it. He is correct, just slightly late to the party.

BlueLancer
I can understand some of the complaints though; the F-secure install takes some 200mb of disk space and about 80,000k of RAM while running. :? I still have the CD but will never install it back again, last used it in 2005. There's plenty of effective and working firewalls & antiviruses that don't hog space on your HD or steal ridiculous amounts of RAM. Outpost firewall+ad-aware+AVG antivirus=free protection from pretty much anything.

E: just checked when f-secure updates... It updates every hour, and when it updates, the net crashes, that's the problem. VIX VIX VIX
