January 15, 200818 yr Not gonna really post a well-thought out argument or anything, just a simple rant :) I hate the fact that Jagex has been building this skill up for the past two months, and when they finally release it, it's more expensive than construction and slower than runecrafting! Even worse, it's not even worth the effort. The overall lameness of this skill would not bother me as much if I wasn't reminded of this upcoming skill EVERY DAY FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS! 90% of the topics in the general discussion forum for the past two months have all been about summoning, and now that it's out, I get to see more brainless topics about it until the February update, and even MORE topics about it for a few weeks after the February update! When will it end?! /rant
January 16, 200818 yr No you know what the worst thing is, the players have been expecting summoning about as long as we were hoping for construction and when construction came out yeah it was expensive but it was fun and useful in some way, then another skill thats been anticipated and speculated about comes out and it's totally useless and not fun!!! What the heck is that, this is worse than the time the behind the scenes announced summoning and construction were coming out that month and it was edited, and that was like right after classic!!!! :notalk: :notalk: :notalk: (Can't find an angry enough emote.) January 16, 200818 yr I for one expected it to be more expensive than this-but i think thats because ive played so many games that have summoning. (Im pretty sure they said in one of the development diaries that it was not going to be a cheap nor a fast skill, aru) You dare question my eccentricities?~The arus are back~
January 16, 200818 yr High profit at level 4. Make dreadfowl scrolls. They sell for 200ea. (Thats 2k each 8 shards, pouch, raw chicken, and gold charm) So you get like 1500gp each 10. It IS worth it. Quite fun too ;)
January 16, 200818 yr Summoning would have some awesome uses if it wasn't expensive and slow to train. Think about how useful that yak would be if it didn't require 100m and a years work to obtain? At the moment its more efficent to do more bank runs. Imagine having a pet capable of dealing double 18s ON TOP of your weapon damage(Dagganoth has a chance to attack twice(If I read that right)). Sounds sweet? To bad it only lasts 3 minutes before you need to go to a really far away obelisk. And thats completely ignoring the 50m you gotta spend on it.
January 16, 200818 yr I agree. If we could actully gain XP from combat, and shard prices were reduced, this skill would be oh-so more fun to train. When I heard of summoning, I thought of summoning a beast to fight by your side and raise your level while working on other skills. What I got was a near-pointless skill that costs an incredible amount of money to train, is useless in combat, (it takes your familiar about 9 seconds to even start attacking...) and takes an extrememly long time to level. I wanted to train summoning by working on other skills with the assistance of a familiar- not running back and forth from a bank making tons and tons of useless items. We already have skills that do that- why do we need another? My suggestion is: Make a right click option on monsters to 'attack with familiar', or make familiars automatically attack things that you attack. Make familiars availible to be used out of multicombat Make the primary means of gaining exp to be using them in combat/skilling. Make shards less expensive... 20 per would be fine. And make charms drop more quantities, and be tradeable. Oh yes- and what happened to karmathulu? Why are we summoning it with a FISHBOWL? What's the use of the actual squid thing? Can be looted to obtain a variable item and reobtain the imp jar. If you are insane, it can instead be exchanged for impling jars from Elnock Inquisitor.

January 16, 200818 yr ^ Which gives slayer more reason. And plus, it's good when you fight quest boss'. And plus2, I have sold about 800 dreadfowl scrolls so far. :)

January 16, 200818 yr I'm sorry that your bubble was burst about this new skill, but what can you do? January 16, 200818 yr What annoys me about summoning is basically the cost. I've spent a long time getting my account to 60+ and now hard working to get it to 65+. i pride myself on my lowest stat being 63 runecrafting - a skill i don't enjoy doing, but you're only as good as your lowest level (thank god for Tears of Guthix). However - although i am now 106cb (+2 thx to summoning) i am not rich, i never have been rich and will most likely never be rich. All the money i make i put back into worthwhile skills. But to my main point - why the f... does it cost so much for summoning? It's basically a skill to use up the money of the zezima's in the game, but not everybody is as rich as them and cannot afford to spend 20m on shards just to level up a skill that at this moment in time, has no benefit to me. I agree with Sprout's previous statement - there are two main things that make up summoning: 1) the availability of charms - they drop 1 at a time, so it is a skill that you can't get to 99 quickly, which i quite like as you can't buy your way to the cape. 2) shards cost 50gp each - not a lot really, but for granite crabs it works out as 430gp for 23xp and you need level 16 to be able to summon them. Surely to make this skill work, Jagex will have to change one or the other, as a combination of both simply does not work. Either make the shards cheaper, or make the charms drop in multiples (1, 5, 10). Rant over. :XD: EDIT: i think SOME charms should be tradeable but not all - i.e. only Gold charms to get you started. After that you have to kill to get Green, Crimson, Blue, etc. It makes it harder for people with 14bn to get the cape. RSN: d35h1_5k4t3r
January 16, 200818 yr in my opinion it wasnt layed out very well for 3+ years. besides all i did was get to 16 for combat lv 100 so i can access funner clan wars and get my void robes faster. 8-) Popoto.~<3
January 16, 200818 yr I think that the XP thing is a bug. Look at this: The Chaos Tunnels are multicombat areas filled with aggressive monsters, so you will find that it is an excellent location for training your Summoning skill alongside your combat skills I think you are supposed to gain xp from fighting with your familiar....

Don't follow me. You might not make it.All your accounts are belong to us now.If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator
January 16, 200818 yr I like the challenge given to us from this skill even if I won't ever be a fan of getting the charms. Exploiting this skill at higher levels is going to be so much fun. January 16, 200818 yr What would make summoning a good skill it that: 1.- Shards reduced to 20-25 ea. 2.-Good xp from actually summoning the creature, after all it's the name of the skill, not pouchcrafting..... :x 3.-Reducing the exp gained by making the pouches, so that people will actually train fighting. 4.- Getting exp from what your familiar hits just like slayer. With those things, I would be very very very happy :
