Inuashakent
Ginger, I was amazed. Those are one of the closest matches ever; the only person who done as good as you and a guy named Sake from my school. Lag wasn't that bad, and your TL is very good. You've master his important At's, but there is one thing you have to work on. TL has lagless moves. When you shda, don't just get hit by my ftilt, you done that 1... 2.. 3.. always. Dont. This also applies to his zairs. There's a reason why they're called lagless. You got alot better since we laste played... I might start playing Brawl, everybody's catching up again. :XD: I just need to wash some rust off, too much melee. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
Ginger_Warrior
It doesn't help when Snake has such a disjointed hitbox. Makes it harder to get used to compared to other characters. I was pulling boomerangs out when I shouldn't have done because my spacing was out of whack. But I won't john. If I want to compete, I should just get used to it. You're right about the lagless moves. I panic and button-bash. That means I often get the timing completely wrong and end up hitting commands I don't actually want. I need to stop doing it. I'm playing too impulsively rather than trying to out-manoeuvre the opponent (much like how I go about real life ). It's so damn frustrating. :x You're good, as always, though. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

Macmaster92
Alright guys, I'm going to a Brawl tournament today and their are some rules about it I don't really understand, I'm sure at least one of you can help me out because I'm a total noob at this. :x The rule is: Matches are best 2 of 3, first round players chose a random neutral stage. Second round the loser of the first round counter picks any neutral or counter pick stages listed. In case of a tie third round, loser of second round decides the stage. What are neutral stages and counter stages? What is the point of them? What is double elimination? I've heard of counter pick stage stuff before but I've never really understood what it is and why its there. Can someone help me out?

Ginger_Warrior
Double elimination basically means you have to be defeated in two matches in order to fall out of the tournament. This includes the final - it's just repeated again so both players have had two bites of the cherry, if needed. Best out of three is fairly self-explanatory. It means a maximum of three games can be played, in other words, two winning rounds means a mathematical victory. Counter-picking is more complex. Simply, the loser from the previous round always gets to pick the next stage, and the winner almost always cannot change their character. Stage counterpicking is the process of choosing a stage which deliberately gives a disadvantage to the opponent, or an advantage to you. Example: If a Snake won the previous round, then the loser would probably choose Marth on Yoshi's Story, since the stage is small and this lessens Snake's ability to "camp", while giving Marth's [bleep]ing abilities a boost because of the slope at the end. Most tournaments now abide by Dave's Stupid Rule. The most common interpretation of this rule (although there are others, so check when you get there) is that you cannot choose a stage you have previously won in that match on. It's essentially designed to make the game more even for all characters. There are more complex versions of this principle. Some are just ridiculous, but most abide by that interpretation. Example: The first stage, picked by random draw, produces Battlefield. Player A wins the first round. Player A can no longer choose Battlefield for the rest of this match. A neutral stage is the stage chosen for the first round of a match. It is selected at random. For Brawl, there is no definitive list yet, but stages like FD, Battlefield, Smashville etc. are commonly regarded as neutral. A list is at the discretion of tournament organisers. Good luck \ and remember - no johns. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

Ginger_Warrior
Do you have to pick a counter stage? Or can you jus of pick a neutral again? Well, it's up to you I guess. But it would be like the Red Sox having the choice of playing at Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium and choosing a flight to New York. If you're having trouble picking stages, then Smashboards usually has a stage guide for each character. In general, long stages favour projectile users though, and stages with short ceilings favour those who kill at low %s. ... when Snake has such a disjointed hitbox. ...I won't john. ...the lagless moves...You're good, as always, though.... Explain? Hitbox - basically, when an attack hits even though it doesn't visually, if that makes sense. A "john" is an excuse made for a poor performance. For example, if someone makes excuses up for why they lost, you turn round and say "No johns". A lagless move is one that has no lag to it. In other words, you can move, attack, dodge (etc.) straight after. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
Inuashakent
Do you have to pick a counter stage? Or can you jus of pick a neutral again? That would still be counter picking... for example, Falco has a huge mother !#!$ing advantage against most characters at Final destination. Seriously.
