In fact most of my friends are from school however I have met a lot of girls by going out to clubs or bars and even on the bus ride home several times. We used to go over her house after football practices to go swimming and we were all just friends but me and her didn't like eachother. Then one night a friend of mine anda friend of hers forced us to hang out and we watched some movie with the main characters named 'Matt & Erica' ironic enough, that's me and my girlfriends name now. We became friends and i have known her for enough years that she is now able to read me like a book. But i have had a major crush on her since about 4th grade, and i have issues, cuz i am horribly shy when it comes to asking girls out, done it twice. And i have actually talked to her about this stuff, and she says she doesnt want to go out with me, but she is also crushing on another guy.......In another state. My luck with girls just sucks, especially since im back in my homestate for a couple more weeks, with her in it. Best friend? Well i met him in 5th grade, and we just started talking. We were able to connect, and i go to his house every time i visit the state now. Through odd fate, alphabetical seating order put us next to each other, and that summer we started dating. Proposed to her about a year and a half after that by abusing my powers as a movie theater projectionist. On her birthday, we ran a special showing of a new movie(Night at the musuem), and I put it together with a homemade movie trailer asking her to marry me. I told him when he passed out of Kapooka to call me and we'd organize a date if I was still single. He resigned from the army 2 months in and came home to me. We started dating from then and are still together, about to have our first son together. Maybe think about getting married when son is old enough to be the page boy. The rest is history ;) misplacedme - That is so romantic give Brent some ideas :) The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. But that was before the dating. He decided that we needed to meet (he was only a three hour drive away). So he drove down here from Maine and, well, the rest is history. As for my best friend, I met her when we were both 9. My mother used to have a booth at a flea market, selling her handmade jewelry, and her aunt had an Avon booth. We started talking and we found out that we both had the same birthday and liked alot of the same stuff. We've ben best friends ever since, even though there was no major internet explosion at that time and we lived in different states. We've now been friends for almost 15 years. Then after months of delay, I finally talked to her both irl and on msn. When she was alone at school one day, I started a conversation with her and managed to ask her out to the movies, she said yes and we ended up having a good time. I accompanied her home and she gave me a kiss and then I asked "Are we a couple?", she just smiled.... Alright just joking, Im still crushing on her and staring from afar. Most of my friends from school lived very close to where I did, when we were in the same class we just started to chat and we became friends. Fair enough but you can't deny that it works for some people. You may view it like that but it only really matters how the person receiving the message perceives it. Two very shy people may find it quite acceptable and live happily ever after. P.S - Offtopic but bloodyhatchetbear your avatar and signature is very awesome, I love carebears. The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. This bear was the reason for the name ^_^ On Topic: Yes, online asking out can be considered odd, but you also have to consider the fact that some online asking out stuff is also long distance. My best friend is a perfect example: met her husband in RP chats when she was 16, he moved up here and she is obviously married to him now, and they have a beautiful baby boy. Although we didn't recognise each other at the time, it turned out that we used to get on the same bus to work a couple of years before and fancied each other even then.
