Dynamic Signature Discussion

Recommended Posts

I just don't think how your thinking about it, is the correct way to think about it, it's not entirely a negative aspect to it.

I'm just thinking back at all the negative competition going on between Draynor, L33tsigs and Rsband, Draynor got there first, L33tsigs copied their style and some of the posses, L33tsigs had to remove the posses but kept the Draynor look and then even Rsband adapted the Draynor look for their sigs.

All three of the sites are about adapt and concur and I don't see any way they wont copy the idea two days after you release yours. (Clooth codes fast) It's all one hell of a mess and not worth the trouble and bad feeling in my opinion. :-#

So that's why Tip.It can be different, and do it not to better, but do it for the users, regardless if they are going to copy.

Draynor, RsBand, and L33tsigs don't have the leverage that Tip.It has and uses, I really don't think it'll be a problem though as it sounds like from you that they are really going out of their way, and acting unprofessionally? I'm pretty sure Tip.It will be able to keep things organized, and out from any messes, if not, they wouldn't be doing the signatures, as I'm sure this came up when discussing whether or not to do it?

To me it seems like Tip.It has a better organized table and priorities than the other sig generators do.

If everybody held back on innovating and trying new things just incase a competitor copied then noone would get anywhere in business. Your logic is flawed.

Well said, Mercifull ... Your exact thought says a good chunk of why I feel Tip.It should somehow have their mark on their signature images... It is their work, after all. 8-) ... If only I knew how to produce a proper small version of the Tip.It Logo myself, but I lack the ability to implement my thought just because of a lack of knowledge. :?

So what's not to say that it may need to be re-tried, and or made optional during creation of the sig? Just tossing it out is like tossing out the site logo on the website, and effectively any recognition of all their work, in my opinion. Tip.It's Staff works hard to keep this site running, and they have worked hard to create these siggys, and they deserve and should have their "We Made This" mark on it. :ugeek:

Seriously, give things like this extra chances. Like spaghetti, sometimes it doesn't stick at first, but it will later on!

Seriously, your obsessing over some little detail that doesn't matter, the spaghetti didn't stick and wont stick, it's watered down, there's no sauce it's just a limp noodle and it's not worth trying to save.

Why don't we just stick the text, "Tip.it" somewhere on the sigs? It won't look as bad as a tiny, shrunken-down, hard-to-read image, and we will still be giving ourselves credit.

I agree whether or not it's an image or just text. Perhaps implementing the text 'Tip.It' somewhere on the sigs at first, and then after a few months and some work when a Tip.It logo has been designed properly, or actually fits and looks good discretely it could be added.

Alright, I could go with that for now. :)

You people still want to cling to the idea of a small logo?

Uhmmmmmmm... Yes... However, a little small spot of text will make a good start.

Yeah, maybe something like one one in your sig?

And later on, it could evolve like RuneWeb.Net's little mini-genie, but instead be Tip.It's nifty Wood Plaque, maybe with some nice transparency.

I think I missed the whole conversation on the logo in the past. Can someone describe why "we" decided against the logo on the signature? I am really missing the point why some are against it....

You couldn't read it anyways, it'd have to be smaller than 16by16 pixels and at that size it looks like a little brown blob.

Exactly. There isn't any room for a legible Rune Tips logo. There is no way that we could put the logo if it's the same size at the one in Lordofrah1's signature. The only place I can think of where we could put the logo without it covering up any stat icons, or have it be covered by text or a pose, would be under the Quest Points icon.. and in order to get it to fit, you have to shrink it down to a ridiculous size, so it just looks like a blurry blob like Lordofrah1 said.

And what about laying the Tip.It Logo ON TOP of the pose, down in the bottom right corner area, at the size in Lordofrah1's sig, but then giving it enough transparency to allow a person to see both the Logo and the area it would have outrightly covered underneath? That would be possible to do within the rendering scripts, and also possible to agree on, wouldn't it? :-s

Heck, here's an example, drawing on RuneWeb.Net's siggy scripts, just as an example...

Tripsis.png

...so that everyone can get the idea.

(BTW, nice stats, Tripsis! ...)

Thanks for the suggestion Mercifull :) I tried it out there as well with the Rune Tips logo and I found it to be unattractive, blurry and hard to read. It had to be resized so much that it just got blurry and degraded the quality of the signature in my opinion. But what might be cool is if we had someone from The Gallery design us a Rune Tips logo in the same style and size as the RuneScape skill icons. Then maybe it will look good in the location that you pointed out, Mercifull.

Gotcha. I even tried it and as said it looked horrid. Why not just put a water mark between the Background and the skill icons (pose included)...

Looking back, I agree that covering the pose really detracts from the overall feeling. Merc. idea would be cool if done with a original file of the logo and a smaller version of the font found in name...

You should run a contest for a custom rank in gallery. It would be really uplifting for them to have their skills highlighted.

I personally find it unattractive and distracting :ohnoes:

Example:

examplepa9.png

Could I ask you to try that image again, but with transparency applied to the Tip.It Logo first, on its' own layer? I think you might like it after making it semi-transparent. :-k

Dev, a bad idea is bad no matter how many times you try and make it work. I'm with Tripsis, it looks so small and blurry it just looks out of place with the sharpness of the rest of the sig.
