99 Smithing - The Fast, The Cheap, & The Effective?

I'm considering to go on a 99 Smithing journey. I'd like to know the Fastest method (regardless of price), the Cheapest method (regardless of speed), and the Effective method (50/50 between speed/money). This is for a 10hp character, so quests will be minimal.

Fastest that does is reasonal is Mithril plates.

Cheapest... would have to be cannonballs.

Effective is superheating gold.

no family crest for him, its a lv3

as for speed, addy plates would be faster, he's not bothered about price

Disregarding money, I'd suggest addy bolts (unf)...finish them if you want to

Disregarding speed, cannonballs.

I haven't tried this, but i've heard making swords is a cost-effective way. you only use 1 bar, and it gives the most return if alched...idk

Yes, I was advised to do Mith Bolts -> 70 but I guess I could do them to 73 and then switch over. I'll have to calculate the cost.

Anyone else?

EDIT - After calculating, 192,665 Adamant Bars are needed from 73-99. Surely, there is a quicker way?

No gold gaunts, eh? Hm...

For speed, doing addy plates is it. But keep in mind that Smithing is an expensive skill ALREADY.

Cheap would be making cannonballs. You make a lot of cash doing that, so you may want to consider doing a few k so that that profit can pay for other techniques.

I would go with Mithril Bolts. You lose a very small amount, if you feather them. And it's fairly fast exp.

Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again

just keep making the best plate which u can at your level...that would be the fastest disregarding cost incurred....

maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cooking

life may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?

my fake plant died because i forgot to pretend to water it

Bolts are hard to sell now-adays.

*Gold... I guess is a no-go.

* Mithril plates - Not even close to enough money.

* Addy plates - Don't bother...

* Cannonballs- Xp is just... too slow

All in all, I would smith adamant/mithril bolts, and keep them in the ge.

Welcome to the quest for 99 Smithing :)

I would have to say Smithing Addy Platebody's is the fastest when you can (Level 88)

Smelthing Iron Bars is most effective (9 gp made per exp)

In between is anything Mithril, I'd say Gold but you havn't done the Quests

Whatever you do, Good Luck

The cheapest way is smelting ores, you can make a profit by buying ores on the grand exchange and then selling bars. I found iron plates fast/not that costly up until level 70, where i'm staying at for a bit.

How well do Addy Bolts and/or Plates sell? If there is a market for them, might be worth getting into.

Addy bolts sell OK as rune bolts are a rip off.

Addy plates sell to alchers but it's a huge loss.
