The worth of noncombat.

Featured Replies

I speak to a couple friends about noncombat... Sure, they did noncombat in rsc, but now that its rs2 all they do is train (mostly).

They say that you can get others to get the materials for you... But they can't get combat for you. Also, they say all MMORPGs revolve around combat.

(Which is true. Smithing = armor. Fishing = food. Herblore = pots.)

So... What would YOU say?

If you're plan is to be the uber leet master who kills everyone in his sight, get combat.

If you want to be the person with all the ores, logs and whatever who gets all the gee pee's. Get skills.

The best ways of moneymaking i know involve combat.

Merchanting can be good, depends on the market.

I'm talkin about a solid way.

And, merchanting doesn't use ingame skills. That's what im talking about.

The best ways of moneymaking I know involve merchanting. Do you need combat for that?

Yes, I trust level 120+ more than level 5-.

I mean they are saying why fish when u can get the fish from others, for example.

I guess its just a personal preference for some.

I trust level 3's and then anyone over 70. People that are inbetween tend to be the scammers and poor folk who can think of nothing better to do but scam. Many people create level 3 characters to be the best level 3...i saw miner I the other day...he's amazing.

Uh, the level 3's are usually the ones who have mains and illegally transfer items.

Ya it is, its the choice between time and money, either take time to get the stuff and not spend much, or spend alot and take no time at all.

I personally get everything for myself, but im pretty poor, and im sure rich people usually just buy everything

or be like me and do both :D

If you are fully combat and loose your stuff or something it can be very hard to get them back. One of my friends who is combat focused lost all of his armor/weapons/money and had a very hard time reearning it because he relied on it for his money. Me, I'm skill based but do enjoy combat (350 more yews until 75 woodcut, if only I was a member...)

Would you trust a level 3 named "no combat"?

Well, this is quite funny because yesterday I came accross something similar.

I was training prayer in Champ's Guild because chickens are easy prey, when some level 63 (2 levels under me), turns up with a bow and arrow. We fight in tandem for a bit, then he goes: "Do you have arrows?", to which I say no. Then he goes on about how he's running out, and has no money to buy more. I ask him how it's possible for a Lvl 63 to not have money for arrows. He says that he only trains, and doesn't know how to make money.

So, I gave him 6K in the end, and he was as happy as pie. The moral of this story is that a combat level doesn't make you a fantastic player.

Keyword here is making.

A merchant doesen't really make money. They just manipulate and hoard it, contributing nothing to the economy. Someone who practice skills adds items and gp to the game, which is in everybodys interest.

Exactly, the only ways to make money are:

Sell to store, getting from coin drops, random events giving coins or alching.

Other ways (mining, merchanting, woodcutting) are money moving

How is mining money moving? By mining, you are effectively creating ores that were not there. If I mined a Runite ore, there would be one more Runite ore on Runescape, therefore creating money.

I don't care about combat; I only raised myself to 72 to make mining in the Wild less dangerous to me (and to discourage lvl 60 and below noobs from trying to steal my Rune).

Irony: An amnesiac rediscovering they have an eidetic memory.

Most of the ppl that only train combat tend to think they've got something going for them. "Whoop die doo, I'm lv 100 combat with a whopping 5 mill total xp as a member. I own you, lv 97".

Pathetic. Since combat is comprised of the easiest skills ever (with the exepction of prayer, magic and ranged), I tend to turn away from it. To distantiate myself from the ppl above I train skill total.

They aren't talking about selling it to the store, they are talking about selling to other players...

And johannes and all who carried on that conversation;

I'm pretty sure Bubsa wasn't talking about the game as a whole, but himself..

So, merchanting would be moneymaking as it introduces money into his account

I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.

When I played I use to just do Combat. Not sure why, but it gave me something to do, and I could get a level every couple hours.

Of course, that doesn't mean my skills are totally low... I have level Sixty mining so if I were to lose my Runite, I could get it back in a day. ;p
