Dizzle...you're just being stupid at this point. The idler didn't give anyone an unfair advantage, all it does is save CPU power so that you can do other things while running it in the background. Valve had no problems, never said anything, about idle servers, which is basically what that program was, but took up less processing power than having to actually run tf2.

 

 

 

The program was out for months, they never said they had a problem with it. The right way to handle this situation would be to give people a warning saying that from this point on they shouldn't use the idler or they lose the items they gained. The wrong way to handle the situation was to take away everyone's items without warning for no apparent reason.

 

 

 

It's like if the government out the blue said that paintball was illegal, and that everyone who'd ever gone paintballing would be locked up because they broke the law.

I idled during the first like week or few days or whatever when getting the new stuff was almost impossible. I still have all the items (Other than maybe a couple medic things, never got around to that), and lost no hats so I don't really care, but the fact that valve made it so you had like a 1 in 15 chance to get the item you want, and you get an item like once an hour if you're lucky at the start was kind of stupid, so that's why I idled then.

Yes, they're extremely rare, but it's just something to work for and the fact is, it's all random. You could get one in a thousand hours, you could get one in 2 hours, you never know. Again, I do think that there should have been a clear message saying that anyone who idles after so and so point will lose their items, like a warning.

Played over 3 hours today only got about 2 items Dead Ringer and Sandvich (So Fluffy doesn't go hungry) and after long hours of huntsman spam I saw over three hats drops because of these special words.

 

 

 

We've also significantly increased the chance of finding any of the existing hats.

 

 

 

Also with the idler update we got a somewhat hatless Soldier (Note there is no hatless soldier which points to the Soldier Update. \

I was trying to get the taunt achievement for the spy so I went 2fort and started to stalk snipers. Finally I found one that was scoping so I uncloaked, taunted, I got the 2 knife hits and just when I was about to hit the last strike, literally like half a second before I will get the achievement, his sniper buddy head shot me out of the blue. I went from :| :o \ :shock: :evil: :wall: .

Fully Built. Ping was bouncing around on that server so there would be times when it was super laggy, and times when it was perfect. And everything inbetween. It was 2fort, and none of the sentries were shooting, no teleporters were working, and dispensers didnt dispense. I just kinda walked into their spawn exit area and set up. By the time I had a level 3 built, everything started working again and their sentry took me out, then mine got theirs.
