June 22, 200818 yr I hadn't drawn anything in a while, so I thought I would make a formal portrait picture of my character. My favorite skills in the game are farming and construction (well, not leveling construction so much as having a fancy house to repose in), so I wanted to incorporate these both. I took a few screencaps of a formal garden in my house and a screencap of the character's standard outfit. Then I Photoshopped the reference pics together to create the final composition I was looking for. Using this image as a template, I painted the final version using primarily the airbrush in Photoshop: For more details, please see the large version here. In keeping with my usual (inefficient, prolonged) style, the detailing primarily consists of thousands upon thousands of layered low-opacity brushstrokes: This wasn't really a drawing in which I tried to expand my artistic horizons or anything like that. It was more of an indulgent pic in which I got to play around with the things I like best, shading and texture, while having the broad outlines of the drawing already laid out for me via the game. It was fun, and I always welcome concrit. :)
June 22, 200818 yr All I can say is... Wow... =D> Very detailed work there... Very nice job.
June 22, 200818 yr It's amazing , one of the best paintings I've seen. There are just a few things that bother me. The part of the cape that's visible via the space between the left arm (Our left) and the body, I think it could use a darker colour. The background feels "too" blurry in my opinion but isn't a big deal (Feels like it's far away). The shoulder guards on the cape is a bit pointy in my opinion.
June 22, 200818 yr Wow! That's REALLY good. I agree with the idea that the background is a little blurry, but beyond that, it looks really, really aazing. Very well done portrait. =D> Being immature is a part of being mature.
June 22, 200818 yr That is amazing. I love it. The person's face is magnificent! I hope you plan on doing others like this. |Signature by Jason321|

You definitely have a good point about the background being too blurry, since the hedges etc. are supposed to be only a few feet away. I'll try to put a more-detailed background in the next drawing I do and see how that looks compared to the blurry/airbrush type background I tend to fall back on. Also, compared to the reference, the shoulder pads are indeed noticeably pointy. I must have gotten carried away while smoothing out (ie erasing parts of) the edges. Great piece of work, love the fountain fish. Very nice. The fish was my favorite part to draw, glad you like! :) That is amazing. I love it. The person's face is magnificent! I hope you plan on doing others like this. Thanks! I tend to work slowly and sporadically but I plan to keep on drawing as best I can. Lately I've been working on improving my ability to draw people (previously I'd focused more on landscapes and animals), so I'm glad it's had an effect! :D

June 23, 200818 yr Author Awsome. Do you use a tablet? I've been using my trusty Wacom Intuous3 6x8" tablet everday for nearly 3 years now. I think a tablet is a great investment for anyone seriously interested in digital art, since it allows for greater precision and is much easier on the wrist. (I even play RS using my tablet instead of mouse sometimes, although the pesky make-x options get in the way of a purely keyboard-less experience.)
June 23, 200818 yr Yet another appalling work of yours. I especially love the textures on the fountain and the highlights on the clothes. There's the same trouble as with your sig though with the backgrounds, but it's otherwise awesome This signature is intentionally left blank.

I especially love the textures on the fountain and the highlights on the clothes. There's the same trouble as with your sig though with the backgrounds, but it's otherwise awesome Thank ya muchly. I have made up my mind that next time I submit a piece it will have a legitimate background (no more of this fake photograph-blur), so wish me luck! :D
June 24, 200818 yr You have a beautiful artistic ability and it is more than apparent here. Consider me a fan of your works. :) [Doomred8] People who point at their wrist while asking for the time really piss me off. I know where my watch is buddy, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the bathroom is?
June 24, 200818 yr First of all: It looks good : Well the second thing i would like to say is that the arms and the part from the shoulder down on the left side of the body looks extremely flat. Because you haven't used really darker colors on her right arm, it has become just like a piece of paper :? The reason why it's so flat is because of the lack of really dark colors. On a position like this, there always should be a large shadow on the part of her arm next to the body. Also the body just ends in 1 dark color, what is unlikely, because there should be more light since the arm is also very light on that side. Third of all, it still looks good, and i hope the part above ^might help with your next piece : (also please tell me if you don't understand me since i'm not very good in english... :P )
June 24, 200818 yr Kudos to you, You make runescape look good :P God agreed. I can't stand 99% of runescape fanart. This, however, brings some actual style into a boring game -- well done.
June 24, 200818 yr Impressive  It takes some imagination to convert those pixels into a 'real' person. Runescape graphics look even worse after I've seen this :D [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
June 24, 200818 yr That took me completely by surprise lol. :o I was looking at the screenshots and the pixellated one, thinking 'hmm this is going to be another sad attempt at art'. I was wrong, I actually went 'woah!'. I remember your other art, I really like your style.
June 24, 200818 yr Author It's beautiful, but something about the cape's shoulder pads bother me. I think they are a bit sharp compared to the reference, and I have the sneaking suspicion that the perspective may be off a bit (not so much a suspicion as a glaring fact, lol). As usual, I spent too much time shading and not enough time considering: Is this what object x would actually look like from this angle? Or: What shape is object x exactly and how would it sit on the body? I tend to be lazy when it comes to discerning the underlying structure of objects and how they interact with each other. You have a beautiful artistic ability and it is more than apparent here. Consider me a fan of your works. :) Aww, thanks. :D First of all: It looks good : Well the second thing i would like to say is that the arms and the part from the shoulder down on the left side of the body looks extremely flat. I had a vague idea of a light source coming in from the upper left, and it should have cast a shadow on the far side of the right arm. I have the bad habit of drawing what I think looks cool instead of what would actually appear given a particular set of lighting conditions. Considering that I want my art to look realistic, this obviously something that I need to work on more! Thanks again, and I'll try keep these things in mind next time I begin something!
June 25, 200818 yr Author Great job =D> Add a Glory though They funny thing is, I think I had a glory halfway-done at one point. I must have turned the layer visibility off to work on the shirt and never turned it back on again. Kudos to you, You make runescape look good :P God agreed. I can't stand 99% of runescape fanart. Thanks guys! I'm glad you like the drawing, and I'm really glad it had the effect I intended it to have. You encourage me to keep working on my artwork and developing my style (even though it can be really tedious and frustrating at times, lol). :D
