which range weapon is the best

which range weapon is the best rune c bow.....crystal bow or dark bow ??? I am 73 range atm and need to train to get quickly 90+ and want to see high hit points...with cbow am only getting less than 20

It depends on how you define 'the best.'

 

The best ranged weapon in terms of special attack is the Dark Bow, with dragon arrows.

 

The best ranged weapon in terms of speed is tied inbetween darts and throwing knives.

 

The best ranged weapon in terms of accuracy and ranged bonus is the Crystal Bow.

 

And finally, most people agree the crossbow is the best all-around ranged weapon.

Asuming that you have a unholy (zammy) book (if you don't get one), A rune c'bow is far batter than the other two. With the unholy book it will provide a 98 ranged bonus, higher than the dark bow, and higher than the crystal bow 90% of the time.

 

 

 

It has about the same speed as the crystal bow and adamant bolts will cost the same amount of gp per per shot as the crasytal bow (after you have recharged it 5 times) and hit higher (with more acuracy too). It is better in every way over the crystal bow.

 

 

 

It is slightly slower per arrow shot than the dark bow, but adamant bolts will hit higher and cost less than rune arrows, as mithril bolts will hit higher and cost less than adamant arrows. The dark bow has the advantage of having a special. All together the rune c'bow is better because of it's higer range bonus and it's higher hits per cost.

id do crossbow with steel or mith bolts depending on what you are training on.

I wouldn't suggest using a rune xbow with anything lower than mithril bolts. Might as well use the hunter bow or maybe even go down to bone bolts if you want to save money.

Rune Crossbow is better as you can use a shield. If that shield is the Zammy book you have great range bonuses.

 

 

 

As for bolts, you should use at least mithril, I recommend addy. Use the accumulator and you won't lose out. If you do, you're ranging the wrong monsters.

Get the guthix pages, complete your book, then ask for a zammy one at the guy in the Lighthouse.

I think the magic shortbow still is a good overall training weapon, and c'bow is better for monster hunting, or monsters with better ranged defence. But that's just my opinion, it also depends on what you're training and stuff...

last thng...at the moment am wearing karils helm,top and skirt... should I be better off with black dragonhyde and maybe I buy ranger boots and robin hat ?

 

 

 

I intend to do gwd with range when i get 90 range...am training with chinchompas for fast levelling....

Karil's coif is junk, get an archer helm, god coif or a robin. And if you're using a safespot while ranging, just wear dragonhide, it gives just as much range attack bonus.

 

 

 

And yes, you need to fill the book in order to make it give stat bonusus, zammy pages are about 2m with junk on the forums now :shock: .

Yes you have to fill in all the pages, a full set is about 1.5m in the G.E.

 

 

 

Karils top and bottom give the same ranged bonus as black d hide, but black d hide gives more melee defence while karils give better mage defence. I would go with black d hide because it doesn't degrade. A robinhood hat would also be a lot better than a karils coif, ranger boots too.

forget dark bow, it has good bonus's, but its too slow

 

crystal bow is an effective training weapon

 

rune crossbow is very powerful with rune bolts or diamond(e)

seems the guthix pages and zammy pages are very rare...I think its better if I return to melee lol
