I'm farly certain that a combat bracelet is indeed the fastest way to get to monks, thank you very much. It's very useful if you need to quickly restore your health and prayer. If you don't feel like taking ten minutes to unlock them, get to the grand tree, and find Kathy Corkat right before the hunting area begins.
