The Serious Slayers Guide

Lep

Recommended Posts

I've read your guide a few times now and just noticed it doesn't mention the many uses of a Player-Owned House (POH). A POH is one of the most valuable assests a 'Serious Slayer' can have. At the low Construction level of 55, you can have:

-Altar: 45 Construction (Oak). Useful to get full prayer points after a task that you use Protection Prayers.

-Mounted Glory: 47 Construction. Located in the Quest Hall. Useful to get to Edgeville Bank fast and the Grand Exchange.

-Portal Room: 50 Construction. Kharyll Portal is the most useful because it allows quick access to the Slayer Tower and a nearby bank.

-Amour Stand: 55 Construction. Repairs your barrows items at a reduced cost. Cost depends on your smithing level.

It's a really nice guide but I'm still missing some things

Some invents are really off (11 pray pots for cannon aberrants?).

^ I used 1/2 per task at most let alone 11 (where will the herb drops go?)

Other than that it's very well laid out and pretty informative

I'm at Karamja ranging lessers... if I don't kill him in time people run underneath my foe and steel my arrows. Why! Have some decency and let me finish off the monster and get my arrows that I earned you PIG! Otherwise i have to run out to grab my arrows, get hit, and go back.. and guess what!, by then they stole my lesser! BASTARD!

Hmm I've never ever used Construction myself, but I'll see about adding it in there.

Very nice guide, but I would disagree with some of the tasks you said to block.

I think black demons in CT are really worth the cost of prayer potions, I usually go away from one of those with at least 60 crimsons charms.

Also, blocking waterfiends is a very bad idea. The amount of crimsons you'll get from these is definitely worth it as well, and with a bunyip/unicorn they're very easy. In your GIF I notice you are using a dragon battle axe, and in the picture you have torags. Replace that with either a zamorak spear, or a saradomin sword. The SS is definitely the best weapon for those guys. And the best way to do them is wear magic defence, and pray range. You'll get damaged a lot less, and do a task in one trip.

And scarabites are actually an extremely good task, but there's a certain spot you should use, with a cannon. I don't know it, but I know from people who have done them a lot they're excellent.

P.S. I thought you quit.

Yeah I didn't put the picture up for Waterfiends yet lol. :P But those are just suggested monsters to block because they're not the best compared to others. Waterfiends are slow experience, I've tried them out which is why I have them on my personal block list. They may be good for Crimsons but they aren't fast enough experience for my liking.

As far as Scarabites and Terrobirds go, I'll never know because I plan to never do those tasks. =P~

But nah I didn't quit, our computer was just taken away by police because of my little brother. Parents never bought a new one, so I finally bought one because I have a job now. Add me again btw. :D

Thanks Deio. ::' Do you think you'd be able to post an inventory picture as well? (Excluding teleports) You seem more experienced at Waterfiends than me so you probably know better than me what to bring.

Also you guys were right, some inventories were way off lol. Only by mistake though, like Mithril Dragons, I didn't even have Prayer Potions in it. I've update a few more tasks though.

favoirted but there are a few mistakes

you have scarabites in the warped section and for water fiends you have the whip setup while the gif shows dba, so you might want to change that

Dragon Drops: Platelegs x9, Med Helms x7, Plateskirts x4, Shield Left Half x3, At least 75+ Boots!, Hatchets x5, Ruined Shard x1, Solo Claws x2, Dragon 2Hander x1, Spear x2

Whip x27, Dark Bows x9, Draconic Visage x1

definitely a guide to rival Axe Man Jack's, the only other guide worthy of a spot in my book marks. Really, Tip.it main site should have a link to this and to Axe Man Jack's guide in the slayer skill section.

you shpuld probably consider adding how to kill the monster, places to set up a cannon, etc. I've actually been using this for a while... and have been using Duradel since. Although, he seems to be racist. He gave me black demons twice in a row, then kalphites, then black demons, which I blocked. So he gave me black dragons instead.

Very good though, Maybe explain the slayer points system? Time's has updated w/o Axe Man Jack, and a NEW best slayer guide may be necessary...

Yeah I'm planning on revamping that Slayer Point system part, and I'll think about adding spots to place the Cannon as well. :)

you have a lot of good information but a lot i disagree with as well. IMO Guthans is the #1 set a slayer should buy. I use bunyip and guthans on nearly every single task. The only ones I don't use on are prayer tasks. Guthans is invaluable to the slayer. Second I looked through out your guide and saw no mention of strength training. You said the Saradomin Godsword is useful on tasks, which I imagine it is. However the Saradomin Sword is faster experience, and if you use in combination with guthans actually is faster xp per hour. Also I don't see why you would block waterfiends or Black Demons unless you don't train summoning. They are both amazing droppers of crimson charms.

Just some tips:

-Remove/Edit the Tasks to block list. Most of the tasks you have there are the ones that you do for fun and not so much the experience. [Except Scarabites leave them there]. On the Skeletel Wyverns personally since 72 slayer I've never had them as a task so I can't comment on them.

-Aberrant Spectres: Using a Macaw [Level 41 Summoning] increases the value of the herb drops dramatically. Also few people are going to have 76 summoning, I wouldn't recommend putting that as the only familiar ever.

-Add a section on the Black Mask

-Add a section on the Bracelet of Combat. [Just for information]

-Explain what the Slayer Helmet is.

-Add a much more comprehensive section on the monsters

-Better colour coding on the quests, it hurts my eyes, so I didn't bother reading it.

-Personally I would complete a guide in e.g word before I released it. [but each to their own]

But other than that nice job, it should be a nice guide in future when you finish it [and keep it up TO DATE]

P.s I don't know if its just me but there's lots of space in between the sections.

If you don't believe me that you don't need Guthans, then go ahead and use it. But I get every task done in 1 trip without it, so if you want to waste 4 inventory spaces with it then go ahead. :?

Also, I don't mention Strength training because this is a Slayer guide, I'll probably add mention of more weapons though. I have Waterfiends blocked because they're slow experience and Black Demons because I don't like them. :P

You get every task done, and I could as well, but what about those people slaying with only 45 slayer and 70 combat stats? They surely will need guthans or a bunyip and chances are they don't have 68 summoning. Just saying

Well yes, that's true, but this guide isn't really meant for low levels lol, which is why it's only focused on Duradel. :-#

Update

Completely changed the creatures section, fixed pictures and changed information. That section is now almost completely done except for a few creatures because I havn't had them for a task yet.

Also changed the colour of the quests. ::' (Alphabetical order now too)

im sorry to say but that is one of the worst mith dragon set ups ive ever seen

2 trips for 5 mith drags? ha i do 7 with melee and 11 with range and thats without a slayer mask

ur supposed to use karils and protect from melee since mage they only hit 18s with magic and attack with melee MUCH more often (they hit up to 30's with melee)

Alright I'll try Karils for the next time I have that task. But I only said it might take 2 if you can't Vengeance.

Just a note a want to add that's probably worth mentioning in your guide.

For tasks that are tight for inventory space (Iron Dragons, Steel Dragons, Aberrant Spectres if you use dhide+food, etc.) or tasks that need a lot of food (Suqahs, etc.) you can save 1 inventory space by not bringing your slayer gem. The way you find out the amount you have left is simple - use your slayer xp. Ex. If you're assigned 150 iron dragons, and each dragon's hp is 173, you know that task will yield 25,950 xp. So then if your slayer xp currently is, say, 300,000, you know it will be 325,950 by the completion of the task. To find out how many you have left, it's easy, simply divide. If you started at 300k, but right now its 317,300, subtract 300k from that, then divide by 173 (the hp). That gives you 100, so you've killed 100 iron dragons. You can record all these numbers on your ignore list.

You might consider doing this even on tasks that it isn't nessicary for, simply to save inventory space. All you need is a 4-function calculator, and a few free slots on your ignore list.
