What I was trying to say basically: No freaking wonder we have so many fat people in North America.

No need to stereotype, Lion.

Honestly, the average person should only be able to get two refills before they can't drink anymore, so I can't see how itd get abused unless someone did bring in a keg and filled it Sprite.

Honestly, it's not a stereotype. I live in North America. I've been to Europe. There is a huge difference between the average body type of people.

And ya, I think people should only get pretty much 2 refills. Besides the fat thing I mentioned, people need to look at how much they consume compared to what they NEED.

As for the "I could use a few pounds" argument; Muscle weights more then fat, go get some of that.

Eh, if its hot outside like it is here and you're riding your bike, you read free refills and hear angels singing in the background. I remember getting a large and just standing at the dispenser getting like 3 refills on powerade because I was that dehydrated (going 10 miles [round trip] in 100 degree heat, and only stopping to rest for 20 minutes may not have been the best idea either). Then, of course, I got one for the next 2 mile trip to a friend's house....

So it kindof depends on your situation...If you're actually doing exercise and working it off I think it should be fine to take a bunch, but if it's winter and the most exercise you do is getting from the couch to the fridge, 4 larges may be a bit too much. Then again, I'm usually running or biking or at least swimming (if I can), so it's no big deal if I drink a bunch of liquids...

And nobody would drink soda and workout, at least nobody smart. Soda just seems to dehydrate me, it can taste nasty (especially anything orange/citrus flavored), and its hard to drink carbonated things with the speed you can of water/iced tea...then again, the lemon in pink lemonade will dehydrate you too...hmmm *goes off to think*

I'll agree with Lion about the obesity thing. There are so many fat people around here. We take food for granted =[

It said free refills, therefor he can get as many refills as he likes at no extra charge.

And for the record I'd drink as many cups of pink lemonade as a please, you think people should only get two? Petition the restaurant industry. Until your message gets through I'll keep on getting refills, and enjoying it.

I don't think you understand.

What I am saying, is that it is not justifiable to take so many drinks simply because doing so is gluttonous. I don't care if it says free drinks. If I were to go to your house (Hypothetically) cause you were having a party, and you had a whole fridge full of drinks (lets say pop, since I don't drink alchy). Say there are 100 cans in there, 50 people at the party. There is no sign saying how many per person, but logically it would work 2 per person. But I go ahead and have about 10. Is it justified that I had 10 when there are only so many cans for so many people (Yes I am saying pop is limited, cause it is)?

You are just being greedy by taking so much. Why not go get one of those free refills and try giving it to someone who actually needs it!

I always get unlimited free refills everywhere on earth for all eternity and don't get anything but healthier. Why you ask? All I drink is water!

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

I take as many as I need to finish my meal, and then one for the road. Nothing wrong, as long as they give free refills.

Basically what I do.

Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....

Please do get as many refills as you want dom, you're the one who will get fat not lion nor I lol Enjoy every last drop mate.

My partner and I usually share a soft drink and if we're still both thirsty fill it up before we leave. I think abusing the system is disgusting, no matter the fault of the company.

i think that, morally, you can refill as many times as you want while you are eating. although, legally, you can refill as many times as you want no matter what (unless it says somewhere in the cup that you are only allowed "x" refills).

I AM Atheist, and I said that. The 7 deadly sins still apply to life, whether you are religious or not.

a little bit off topic but i'd like to say that, you're wrong. people can choose wheter to believe in them or not.

Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

I would also like to remind/ let those who don't that I worked in a fast food restaurant, know that I have strong feelings towards how much people consume/waste.

I did not say they had to believe in anything. What I am saying is that they have everything to do with how our society works, whether you like it or not. Right now we are talking about gluttony, aka, having more then you need.

also, you paid for that, its a refillable product so you are able to refill as much as you want. it's like buying a cheeseburger and not being allowed to eat half of it.

Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

Yes and from a managers prospective the amount of waste depends how much their head gets chopped off. I wouldn't be surprised if they fix the sign in a matter of time lol

Yes you paid for the meal and drink, but respectfully speaking you are getting more than your moneys worth with too many refills.

igoddessIsig.png

I always refill at least once to make sure my money isn't going to waste. If I pay for something with such advertising, I will use it as much as I please, aka, need.

And quite a fair call but who NEEDS 5 sodas with their meal?

igoddessIsig.png

If it's a free refill and they don't specify how much then that's their problem for not being specific. Personally I'd probably only ever bother doing one refill if I'm thirsty, but companies can only blame themselves when people exploit a loophole like this.

This reminds me of like junior year in high school. We used to save the same taco bell cup for like a month at a time and refill it. Even if we didn't get anything. I think that might have been a little much. The manager finally moved the soda machine behind the counter. But the people who worked there never said anything. It might have been because they didn't speak english though.

My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet.

These are the times that try mens souls...
And quite a fair call but who NEEDS 5 sodas with their meal?

Someone preparing to do a lot of exercise, or who just finished. I'm sure in...Australia?...it gets rather hot (maybe 85-90+), and then theres the humidity making it seem hotter..And I'm sure you've exercised at least once outdoors, so you should know that 5 drinks may not be an unreasonable amount, depending on the conditions.

I don't know about you but when I was a gym junkie I drank water not coke lol Restaurants have to provide free water if there isn't any available within a reasonable walking distance so the option is usually there :D

Can't believe anyone is getting so irate about this.

It will cost Subway only a few cents for each cup of soda or whatever so he would have to fill it up at least a dozen times for them not to be making profit on it. Also, like others have said, it's the company's job to say how much is acceptable and if there is no limit then fair play to whoever can drink most and get their moneys worth IMO. I mean, does anyone not go into all you can eat places and eat until you feel like you're about to explode? Same concept really.

We get no such luck with anything along the lines of free refils over here. Pizza hut might do them if I recall correctly, but thats about it as far as I know. :(

I mean, does anyone not go into all you can eat places and eat until you feel like you're about to explode?

When I didn't care about my body, yes.

Totally the companies fault, no excuses there, we both agree on that point. It's the stupid reasons people provide for too many sodas, I'm getting at. Yes, entirely their choice but yes, entirely stupid reasons.

Nobody is irritated, we're discussing "justified number of refills". I don't think there is a perfectly justifiable reason to be over indulging soft drink.

It's just feeling like you're getting your moneys worth tbh. No harm in it.

So you need 5 soft drinks to feel like you got your moneys worth? lol Yes no harm in it...... If only that was a legitimate excuse for obesity.

Wow, this has really taken off since I've been gone...

Let's see....where to start...

As for the "I could use a few pounds" argument; Muscle weights more then fat, go get some of that.

Umm...that was meant to be a joke...I guess it failed.

Eh, if its hot outside like it is here and you're riding your bike, you read free refills and hear angels singing in the background. I remember getting a large and just standing at the dispenser getting like 3 refills on powerade because I was that dehydrated

That's how it felt for me.

I guess I should give a little more background info on what led to the situation...

My job entails the following:

1. Being outside all day in 85-90 degree weather

2. Washing RVs (Motor Homes, Pop-ups, Fifth-Wheels, etc) Quite hard on the arms and back

3. Minimal Break Time

Anywho, so by the end of the day, I'm quite dehydrated. I understand that drinking lemonade instead of water/gaterade/powerade was a bad choice, but I NEEDED something Lion.

Why not go get one of those free refills and try giving it to someone who actually needs it!

To be honest, that's kinda like if your parents say, "Finish your vegetables. There are starving children in (enter 3rd world country here) that would do anything for that" Well, even if you ate your vegetables or not, the 3rd world country is still going to starve.

Being dehydrated is a stupid and unjustifiable reason to drink a lot? Hmmm....

I'd also like to add that I wasn't thinking about getting my money's worth.

And also where did obesity come into this? Lol, I'm 170 lbs on a 6'2" frame...not exactly obese. (If the obesity topic was directed towards me)

You are taking this way to personally Diesel ;)

Being dehydrated is a stupid and unjustifiable reason to drink a lot? Hmmm....

As I explained not so long ago, restaurants legally have to provide water if there is no free water available within a reasonable walking distance. Soft drink dehydrates you even more so it is a pretty lame reason on your behalf. Hmm, indeed.

I'd also like to add that I wasn't thinking about getting my money's worth.

Guilty conscience? I was replying to angryjoe who quoted "It's just feeling like you're getting your moneys worth tbh. No harm in it." I'm in no way implying you did this.

And also where did obesity come into this? Lol, I'm 170 lbs on a 6'2" frame...not exactly obese. (If the obesity topic was directed towards me)

Once again, a little jumpy are we? lol I'm once again replying to angryJoe in particular about the "no harm in it" comment. If every person made the excuse of drinking 5 sodas at every store that provided free refills, this would be a pretty fat world. Once again, I'm in no way implying you're fat nor even obese, I wasn't even speaking to you when I posted. You did, however, go well over your daily calorie intake and if it is a regular occurrence, which you've already stated it isn't, there is plenty of harm in it.

Within saying all this, your reason that you didn't drink water at work, supports my statement of stupid excuses for over indulging soft drink.

If I'm speaking to you directly I will either quote you or refer to you by user name.

Lol, alrighty then. If you look at the tiny words on the bottom of my first post is says something to the gist of "I read into things too much". Another example of that wonderful trait of mine.  You were right. I took it personal. Ah, well. My apologies to you and Lion.

Maybe it's just all that sugar from the lemonade. ;)
