What are we stil waiting for? Why?

This is borderline questionnaire, though I feel it will warrant some detailed explainations into why certain things are taking so long.

Now, I've noticed that there are multiple items that we are still waiting for, for example, our guarenteed summoning familiar. First off, can we, together, compile a list of everything that hasn't been brought into the game yet. Can we also discuss why they haven't?

Waiting for;

(This list was originally compiled 4 weeks ago as of the original post)

I understand that at the current moment, Jagex may be too busy with their new graphics bugs, but surely they have a team of members who sort these problems out? Some are well overdue.

I'm sure there's more. For now, I'd like to see some opinions on this, please post c/c and improvements to this post. I realise this is very opinionated and would like to see how it comes out. Thanks.

Wilderness tag? Wasn't that cancelled in project-stage because it was deemed too complicated for Java to handle, and replaced with Bounty Hunter? I certainly remember it that way.

Quest storylines should definitely be finished. The Plague City plot line has been aching for an ending for ages now.

Oh and I remember an old behind-the-scenes a few years ago saying something about "new frozen lands and mammoths". Can't be bothered to dig that article up, but I'm sure it's still somewhere in their old updates list.

Mammoths?

Are you 100% sure?

Ok, since there's some doubt, I found the article where many planned, but undone additions were listed. It's dated 31 March 2004.

As far as "why," how about this here?

~ Item lending ~

Item lending is something we mentioned in the first State of Play newspost back in February. At the time, I'd just written a plan for how we could code it, so we were pretty confident that we could safely release some form of item lending system. Once we got the required tools from Andrew's Game Engine team, progress was rapid.

It's actually a bigger job than it sounds, however. For example, we've got code in place for letting players chop a tree with a dragon axe, but the game engine would have to understand about letting players use a 'borrowed dragon axe' with the same result. That's got to work even in strange places, such as the Yommi Tree in Legends' Quest and the special trees outside of the cave in Mountain Daughter. Plus, you shouldn't be allowed to equip a 'borrowed abyssal whip' without the same requirements that a real one would have had. Oh, and you really mustn't dismantle someone else's godsword. All this work is in addition to the core element, which allows people to lend stuff out in the first place.

The point is that this project requires a serious amount of testing. For a start, we want to be REALLY sure that lenders get their stuff back correctly! We also want to make sure that borrowers can use the borrowed items properly in all kinds of obscure places. Our Quality Assurance team's always got a lot of work on its plate; this spring is no exception, and this isn't the kind of project that they can rush through, no matter how keen people may be to receive the update.

Thanks veyron, and it's true about the quest updates.

As to why, there's reasons for some, and logic allows us to realise why some aren't happening all to fast.

But seriously, how hard is it to keep us informed on the randoms?

They annouced ''fastest gnome in the world'' in a bts ages ago but for some reason he never appeared ingame :?

Sebastian Gno, he was announced along with the Sandwich Lady. She didn't appear until like 8 months later, and he has yet to show. Considering Jagex's new contempt for randoms, I doubt he'll be showing up.

Too many posts at once. XD

It's easier to quote than edit atm, sorry :x

(Are you a friend of Spiceter?)

Anyway, OT: The forumpost was after that update, and since then, we've heard nothing on the matter. Will we ever? I don't know, it's not unusual for jagex to just leave things.

I hope we'll see something, it's been to long.

Lizardmen and Player-Owned-Shops

These were promised back in the days of early rs2 along with player-owned-houses.

Seemingly, GE replaced the need for shops, but still no lizardmen!

We've seen the POH release, and the GE didn't really replace shops, the infinite stock in some is much more useful.

Lizardmen, what's this?

I think i read a long time ago about the person making the plague city storyline quit at jagex soo the story was never finished...

Yup, I remember reading this too. Though this really shouldn't hinder them.

Who is Spiceter?

The forum post also no longer exists... whereas the news archive does...

The random event modifications WILL take place... they do them occasionally anyway.

The Clan wars thing I am about 99% sure will happen - but may well not be as they described it.
