July 10, 200817 yr On creating a new account, Jagex will no longer stop you if your inputted age is younger than 13. If you are under 13 years old you will be able to create an account but unable to disclose personal data through the game or website. Any personal data collected by us, which we find subsequently to be from someone under 13, will be automatically deleted. We recommend that parents / guardians set up an account and play together with their children. Many parents have reported that playing Jagex Products as a family is fun and rewarding. ... If we are notified by a parent that their child has lied about their age when registering for Jagex Products, we will terminate the account provided we have confirmation which satisfies us that the reporting person is indeed the parent or guardian. Thoughts/Reactions?
July 10, 200817 yr Older than the internet. Jagex will never willingly exclude a potentially profitable age demographic from playing their games. The huge age range in RS is one of the reasons the game is so darn popular. alright. once, there was a family of the dad, Joe, the mom, Sue and the son Jim. one day they were sitting at the breakfast table eating pancakes. the next thing they knew, 3 giant penguins came in and bit their heads off. they died. the end
July 10, 200817 yr doesnt matter,i mean is not like people didnt lied before ;) but now they dont have to lie so its worth it
July 10, 200817 yr Yea, I have to agree with Blazey. Peeps lied before, now they simply don't have to.
July 10, 200817 yr Now watch runescape be infested with 10 yearolds... not just people that act like it.

Thoughts/Reactions? Wouldn't this constitute account sharing? :? jagex encouraging rule breaking  shocking! :shame: You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face. Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...
July 11, 200817 yr I think they mean, set up an account for their child and then one for themselves. So they can sit side by side and help one another in game. Maybe I'm wrong? Wouldn't be the first time.
July 11, 200817 yr Author Don't games that feature free chat have to be given a 13+ limit? ... z0mg What if Jagex is going to remove free Chat?! :o

July 11, 200817 yr removing free chat will just make more ppl leave. the more ppl leave the mroe $ lost. they wouldnt do this. jagex really could care less about 13 and younger players and who is playing the game. as long as they r making money it is all worth it. dont tell me they will reject little children who pay money. this thing is just there for the legal issues. everything is going to be all right. the filter does its job anyways. idk why jagex is so concerned in this issue/

When it is impossibly to get in touch with Jagex. =/ Really though, who cares. It isn't like that age limit ever stopped anybody..... July 11, 200817 yr Author Now Runescape can be viewed as a kids game, no longer a mature game. EDIT: That was typed in a rush, I was insinuating that the game is even more geared towards younger audiences. It's like dropping a 'T' rated game down to 'E' (in fact, that's what it is.). Even if people lie about their ages, Jagex should keep the age restriction, even if not for legal reasons.
July 11, 200817 yr Now Runescape can be viewed as a kids game, no longer a mature game. I don't see how this makes any sense. Now people won't be annoyed by having to answer the question. The age limit never prevented anyone from playing anyway.
July 11, 200817 yr If you are under to 13, when you play, you can only use quick chat and can only see quick chat!! Runescape player since 2005 Ego Sum Deus Quo Malum Caligo et Barathum
July 11, 200817 yr Now watch runescape be infested with 10 yearolds... not just people that act like it. I don't see that happening. I hardly doubt that a small sentence change in the Terms and Conditions, which most 10 year olds (and people in general) don't read anyway, will cause a huge difference one way or another. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

You still have to answer the question, it's the first thing. But if you were born the same day as is the date, you'd still be able to play. There's no "You must be 13 to play this game"
July 11, 200817 yr Relax. No need to panic about "kids" invading your precious game, if they're honest. Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.
July 11, 200817 yr This may not be correct, but I don't remember there being any age requirement at all when I first started playing runescape. I made my account 5 years ago when I was 11, and I'm pretty sure I entered my age correctly. So if i'm remembering correctly, the 13+ age requirement is a relatively "new" thing anyways.
