and what the is post metal ( thought neurosis was sludge)??? is that some fluff stuff like post rock?

I'll take a guess and say post-metal is basically hard rock. Some guitar distortion and a bit more bass and drums. Or like Turbo-era Judas Priest.

Anyway, if you feel like some heavier Black Metal, then check out Archgoat. The album Wh*re of Bethlehem is pretty good.

Post-Metal is just a heavier version of Post-Rock. Though it seems to have a greater tendency to include vocals than Post-Rock does.. And I've heard of Neurosis before, but never checked them out. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll look into it. :)

Cyco, try out Alcest. They're fairly popular, so you may have heard of them. I only just discovered them. Like.. 10 minutes ago. Well, I've had their album for a few months, but I never listened to it until now. I'm really digging the Tristesse Hivernale demo. Supposedly it's significantly different from their other releases, so if it's not to your taste, you could try out another one.

Cool.

For you, Intriguing, I recommend Coheed And Cambria. Listen to Welcome Home first, that's a good song by them.

I do apologize if you listen to them already.

Sacramentum - their first album.

Post-metal is the hipster garbage of metal.

Boris, Cult of Luna and a few other related sludge/doom bands.

If you're into skull-crushing death metal, try Suffocation, specifically their debut album Effigy of the Forgotten.

Iron Saviour. Good ol' fashioned heavy metal.

Try Gamma Ray, Iron Savior is a side project of their guitarist.

My last.fm. I haven't exactly used it a lot as I usually download the full discography if I like the artist, but it should give you a general idea.

Opeth

and I know about Suffocation, cool tech death but not as good as Atheist.

I hold Bolt Thrower as the best death metal band anyway, few others have done anything for me.

Melt-Banana, a Japanese Noise Rock band. I'm pretty sure you'd like them.
I know of them and have music by them. Sugoi desu~

I take it you'ver listened to Bolt Thrower, but if you haven't, do so. Plus they're English and I don't have a huge amount of English metal that I like..

Hm....Just found a video of them on Youtube

The only guys i can compare it too is Slipknot

So listen to some slipknot, I Guess.

Kataklysm, you'll probably like them if you like death metal.

Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

The Bezerker.

Good old mix of death metal, grindcore and techno. They also wrote some really amazing lyrics (IMO) which really disturbed me. This song probally has my favourite lyrics of all time, which I've got pinned up on my wall.

Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!

Powman3, I already listen to Coheed and Cambria, but thanks. They're a great band, aren't they? :)

Ragen, I've seen you around heaps on this thread, but I'm still not completely sure what you're into. I'm just going to recommend Blut aus Nord. French Ambient Black Metal. I don't think it's what you generally listen to, but no reason not to listen to something a little different. As for albums, try The Work Which Transforms God or MoRT. Ignore the stupid name of the song on the video I linked.

Cool.

Primordial, especially the To the nameless Dead album.

Sorry if you already know them. :P

Try Hypocrisy, it's one of the few death metal bands I like, especially their album The Arrival.

Even if you don't like metal, listen to Agalloch.

The texture of the soul is a liquid that casts a vermilion flood

From a wound carved as an oath; it fills the river bank a sanguine fog

These arms were meant to be lost! Hacked, severed and forgotten

The texture of time is a whisper that echoes across the flood

Its hymn resonates from tree to tree, through every sullen bough it sings

These boughs were said to be lost! Torn, unearthed and broken

Earth to flesh, flesh to wood, cast these limbs into the water

Flesh to wood, wood to stone, cast this stone into the water...

Uhmm... you know almost every metal band in the world :? . I'll take a shot in the dark and recommend Zyklon, great black/death imo.

Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

Haha, thanks for the compliment, but I hardly know all of them. I looked on the Metal Archives and there are 21,000 registered under just Death Metal... I have heard of most of the popular ones though. ;)

Anyway, check out Tiamat. I think you'll like them.

For Adio: Farscape

Although the chance that you know it already is pretty big. Lisa Gerrard made this album together with Klaus Schulze. Since you love Dead Can Dance and a lot of things Klaus has done, you can't go wrong here.
