starmily
I think this whole Runescape love thing covers a lot of different situations. Some of these I find understandable, others I dont get but dont find anything wrong with, and others I just find wrong. I think it is a mistake, however, to over simplify things and consider all Runescape relationships as being the same. Here are the types I have noticed: 1. People who are bf and gf in real life. Nothing wrong with them playing together. 2. Those who just have an in-game friend (may or may not know in real life) who they flirt with and hang out with, but dont take ithings seriously. These people dont usually call each other bf and gf. As long as they arent really being annoying about it, its harmless. 3. Players who are very into the role-playing aspect of the game and feel their character (not necessarily the player) needs a gf/bf. I personally dont get this, but I guess I dont see anything wrong with it. 4. People who meet in game, hang out a lot, chat a lot, and develop some affection for each other over a period of time. They arent looking for a Runescape bf/gf, but just seem to develop a bond with another player. Some of them eventually take things further and e-mail, text, phone, and even eventually meet in real life. I guess I can see how this would happen. If both parties are over 18 (and thats a big if), I dont really see anything wrong in it fairly risky perhaps, but not wrong. At least they know they have something in common. 5. Players who want a rich bf or gf for gifts. I dont think anyone approves of this. I cant see, however, with the trade limit, how still is really still a viable option. Maybe it is for a brand-new player who doesnt know how to make money yet, but it doesnt take much playing for the trade limit to make an in-game gf/bf useless as a money maker. 6. People who are using Runescape to find a bf/gf. I do think its a bit odd to purposely try to find someone on Runescape; it certainly is not meant to be a dating service. A subset of these players is those who want someone they consider to be their gf/bf, but want to keep it entirely in game. Im not sure which is worse. 7. Little kids trying to be more grown-up. Not good, but I suppose we were all 10 at some point and did stupid things. The worry here is that they will run into one of the people from #8 (below). 8. Sickos. I personally do not know of anyone who has run into a pedophile or a person pretending to be something they are not, but you have to assume they exist in a community this large. Im sure there are more variations; these are just the ones Ive come up with off the top of my head. P.S. I just thought of another. I often chat with another girl who, a few days after we met, introduced me to her bf. After I got to know her better, I found out she doesnt know the bf at all in real life. She has a boyfriend in real life and the bf has a girlfriend in real life. Neither of them plays Runescape. Go figure.

Do you despise all human emotions? Humans are only human. Remember that. We cannot help our feelings, if a person feels they need to get to know the opposite sex, goodl uck to them, they are doing nothing wrong. Skiittles11
I don't believe love is even possible unless you have heard your significant other's voice, and actually laid eyes on him/her. Those are two factors that a person would fall in love with. Including their personality, and the small things they may do, like twirl their hair when they're nervous. These aren't even possible to know if you have only met on a game, such as Runescape. Many factors must come into play, in my opinion, for the fire to be started. I believe these people that fall in love in Runescape, actually fall in love when they agree to meet and first lay eyes on one another. I may be wrong, though. Nothing is impossible I suppose, Skiittles11 P.S. W00T I'm Rat Meat now. :XD:

It's mostly a person's personality a person will fall in love with. It can be impossible to even reap the benefits of a person's full blown personality over an online game where conversation is done by typing text. Zierro
I think if someone truly loves another on runescape (not for stoof and or geepees) then that could be considered the ultimate love. Not knowing how the other person looks, but love based on the other's personality. Yeah, that's a good point. I don't see how it's any different than having a Myspace gf/bf. To each his own, as long as it doesn't interfere with everyone else's gaming. This kind of reminds me of the people who roleplay. Yeah, it is nerdy, but who is it harming? Pinkbullet3
What drives people in runescape to look for gf/bf, what do you think? Are they looking for money, they want to feel loved, or are they just bored. Do you think it's only for poor noobs? Or are you in a great relationship yourelf?
