Meh, most do it for cash. I've heard rumours of people actually meating up and becoming bf/gf irl through rs without knowing them first, but i'm not sure if this actaully happens. Some also do it for a joke when pretending to be a noob.

Also, could you please put capitals in your title? it makes it look better ::'

Imo i'll just say what most people think, it's pathetic. I really /facepalm when i see people in Runescape saying 'i love you' and stuff, it's ridiclious.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

I think its because they want attention. Jagex states that having a boyfriends or girlfriend over rs is Solicitation. But to be honest, if you can't get a boyfriend/girlfriend irl, you need to get out more, not try your luck at finding someone online who could be something other than you thought.

It used to be mainly for free st00f but I don't see as many RS relationships nowadays, alot of people seek attention on the internet for many reasons but it's usually a problem with their real life so they use the game as an outlet for their emotions, although this is true for many other emotions like hate  .

And I suppose there are some people who are really in internet <3 <3: .

Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(

I doubt you can say money anymore, but I think people who can't interact with the opposite sex in real life (no not me -.- ) find it a lot easier to confront them on runescape. If you're denied it's not as much because it is truly your avatar being denied. And if you are denied in runescape you don't have to deal with as much kahbagee! as you have to in real life (put pm on friends and walk away).

I think if someone truly loves another on runescape (not for stoof and or geepees) then that could be considered the ultimate love. Not knowing how the other person looks, but love based on the other's personality.

There are so many possibilities to why people in runescape look for a bf/gf. Firstly you got people who do this for monetary gain, one of my good friends on runescape used to give his rs gf expensive presents like d chains and various other nice stuff and i never understood why because he had a girlfriend irl.

Then you have kids who just do it for fun and are perhaps not mature enough to have a bf/gf irl and perhaps have seen other people doing it so don't want to be left out. Then you have people who are so serious in to their role playing that they do it to add to their role playing experience.

Also i wouldnt say it confined to just low levels as I have seen quite a few high levels with rs bf/gf's.

the two people i was referring to are in the lvl 100+ club, one of them had max combat before summoning and the other has plenty of skilling 99s so no it is not exclusively to lower level accounts

Ironically, the people saying "They fail at dating irl" etc, etc, are the ones encouraging this stuff. Its social acceptance to have multiple girl/boyfriends throughout your life so these kids try, in RuneScape, then get flamed by the original people themselves.

Not that its bad though. Most of the noobs asking for girlfriends are really stupid and immature. Let them do what they want.

However, RuneScape still provides the connection needed between two people. While most other couples meet through work, school, bar, etc, some folks meet through online games. And by all means its acceptable. Don't get confused now over-reacting nubs out there; these people do not ask for GF PLZ in Lumbridge. They go on their RuneScape adventure, meet someone add them on their friends list then it goes on from there. They might become really good friends and do stuff outside the game like IMing, Webcams, e-mail, letters, etc. They might grow to like each other from that point.

Not to work too strongly on stereotypes but many people who play Runescape have no life Irl. *I dont' want to sound too harsh/arrogant* Some 12 year old boy, just reaching puberty thinks he can pull a girl over an online game.

It's not a big deal really. I remember when the rules were changed on Rs so that looking for bf/gf became against the rules :D

EDIT:

it makes me sick to even see a topic like this

Then why bump it doofus

What's wrong with voicing an opnion? We were asked what we think. The point isn't to just post *if* you agree.

And what you said back to him wasn't? Two wrongs doesn't make a right. Pez didn't do anything wrong, I think too many people on the forums fail to see that opinions are a good thing. #-o
