sohkmj1
This is sort of off-topic, but it kind of relates to asian customs I think (food is customs too, right?). Why do many, if not all, Indian women have those big red dots on their foreheads? Does it have something to do with anything? Anyways, where i live, in the morning i don't eat breakfast (no, not a tradition. I just don't.) Afternoon: Rice. Dinner: Rice or if we go out or whatever. We have western food here, just that i don't eat it often.

ThurinEthir
Japan is so full of 7 Eleven's and Mikey D's >.< There is literally a 7-11 every block here. Or at least there were. A bunch changed to Hi Life or something. Riku, rice is just the main thing. You know how when you go to a Chinese/Asian restaurant, they give you rice, and then a bunch of dishes? We have dishes too. Not just rice. Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu.
dragoonson
Yes,almost all our coffee shops and probably all our hawker centres have a western food stall. Those kind of suck,so to get BEEF or PORK(racist is I am) I have to go to a more high-class,expensive restaurant. And we have Botak Jones . So I'd say authentic is better than comercial and readily available, though no-one asked. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! Faux
omg jolibee!!! i love their halo halo!!! (its a fillipino desert, its made up of ice shavings, flan, mango ice cream, ube(purple yam) ice cream, certain types of beans, jello sort of thing, milk, and other good stuff. also jolibee has good palabok, its like a fillipino version of spaghetti or pasta. They serve halohalo now? [bleep]ing awesome. Shows how long it's been since I went there. Yeah, their palabok is awesome too. I swear, if there's no Jollibee within the next 20 years here in Toronto, I'll build one myself  Too many Chinese restaurants around here I used to go to Chow King for halohalo though :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

ForsakenMage
I'm Asian, and yes I eat rice every day for dinner, as well as some simple traditional Chinese dishes. But for breakfast and lunch, it's a mix. Breakfast for me would be mostly "Western food " like cereal, toast, etc. Lunch would either be the stereotypical Chinese food or just another "Western food," like sandwiches, spaghetti, etc. When I went to Hong Kong back in 2004-2005, I noticed there was an increase of Western restaurants/cafes/stores/etc. like McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks, etc. They even had IKEAs in the larger shopping centers. :ohnoes: Before 2004-2005 I went to Hong Kong and China in 1997 and didn't remember seeing so many of those places. o_O' However, keep in mind that some of those Western restaurants actually try to cater to the culture there. I know McDonald's has specific menus for each country they serve. Not sure about Burger King and Starbucks though. ThurinEthir
Oh right, that reminds me...Dunkin' Donuts has started up here. And they have *special* donuts that you can only get in Taiwan. :P For the record though, when I'm in Massachusetts, I basically eat what you guys eat. I'm not one of those kids that brings his own lunch (Of rice and Chinese food) every day, I buy lunch at school, when I eat breakfast it's western stuff...I guess dinner is usually Chinese, but I have other stuff once in a while. Rollyboy
Pan De Sal. (tasty filipino bread) For breakfast usually with hot chocolate milk. Or as a snack. When i go to the Philippines on holidays, the Western restauraunts have traditional options aswell as the usual burger. llamster
I've been to China on vacation before, and it's pretty much the reverse of the West. Chinese people eat Chinese food most of the time, but there are McDonald's at every street corner (and since there are so many big cities in China most of the McDonald's there have a bunch of floors). Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

What kind of *special* donuts? Are they good? Oh, and on average what is better, Western restaurants in Eastern countries or Eastern restaurants in Western countries? ~ W ~
