Mods Posting In Red

"Baseless"?!?!? You speak madness, my fellow forum user. :| ....... Do you really think that people on the Tip.It Official Theme for the forums are going to want to have trouble reading something in a color that isn't compatible with the forum color scheme, such as this ugly red I've picked for that one segment and can't read without hurting my 20/20 eyes because it clashes on the gray beneath? ....... You really should switch to this scheme and see the trouble we're having over here. :wall:

I think that makes my point. Hell, I expect a Moderator to be a little upset with that much of one contiguously-placed color, but potentially understanding, once they switch to the Tip.It Official Theme, and find they have trouble reading it too! :geek:

I just switched over to the Tip.it theme for you, and I can tell you, I have absolutely no trouble reading the red. I suggest getting your eyes checked.

Or maybe I'll be nice and ask you if any of the following colors are less hurtful:

I've spent about half an hour on the tipit theme staring at random lines of red text. Zero problems.

Now look what you've done- we now owe Kaphias 5 bucks for wasting the time to respond to you. I could have had a footlong subway sandwich for that much money.

Your last line is the most hilarious. You seem to be unable to do anything but sensationalize the slightest comment anyone makes. This problem is approximately the same magnitude as that of me deciding whether to eat regular or Honey nut Cheerios in the morning.

Very true.

This discussion is useless. The red is there to stand out. Who cares if your eyes don't like the red against the gray? It's there to be ugly and to stand out, because that's what it's there to say: The rules have been broken, and it only makes sense that it is an ugly thing that stands out.

The staff at Tip.It don't need to cater to this. If you all start making this a formal thing that needs to be checked up on all the time, the forums will lose the casual nature it still has.

I use the Tipit theme myself, so I know that it is perfectly readable. The point is that the colour is also readable on the other themes, which means it's all good. If you need to highlight, then good. That just makes it more probable that you read it.

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

phpBB3 has custom BBcode options. Why not create a [highlight] element to make text look highlighted instead of colouring it which IS hard to read no matter which colour you make it.

I'm beginning to think it's this NVidia Video Card, with the adjustments for this older monitor and the eyes of one of my parents. That or my blue eyes at fault here. :(

TBH, both of those are better than straight red. I can actually read them (except, in the case of the orange, when it is on the lighter gray) without issues. ::'

Unluckily for you, Kaphias' time has not been wasted.

(And I find your pessimistic SubWay comment to be unwarranted.)

I'd say Mercifull has a very good idea there. It would cure a lot of these crazy forum text color problems, if not all of them. (And that, I think, would make everyone happy. Definitely would allow this to hit the "[/thread]" point.)

I vote Mercifull's idea, it would solve this problem once and for all!

I wouldn't go that far to call it a problem. It never really affected me if they posted a line that was a different colour that done it's job and caught my attention.

I don't think it is worth making a new button 'Highlight' or whatever just for editing posts.

I think this is absolutely perfect. If there is a rule being broken, then the user who broke it needs to screech to a halt and see that. If he has to spend an extra 5 seconds manually highlighting the text so that he can read it, then he certainly is giving it due attention. However, I have no trouble reading the bright red font and I do use the tip.it theme. I tend to use varying colors of red anymore when I edit things; I do remember using green at one time, though.

Red or Red or Red, they are all noticed. And bolded or italicized or bolded and italicized are all noticed. I think I just made a personal color choice while creating this post. Color #BF0000 in bold looks great to me on the tip.it theme. That said, moderators should feel free to use whatever colors they feel are necessary to get their point across with rulebreakers. It isn't supposed to be a beautiful experience, it is supposed to catch the eye and make people pay attention.

I'm sorry about this bump, but I noticed something a moderator could put into a post:

http://phpbb3administration.freeforums. ... h-t88.html

Theres a couple of BBCodes that mods could use to easily make a edit note, and show up while the text is still black so everyone can read.

Example: lockedmessageuh1.jpg

There is locked post notices, edits, moves, and everything you could notice.
