I've never personally used GIMP, but when I used to mess around a lot with graphics I used photoshop and I'm sure a lot of the sigs that your jealous of are made in photoshop as it is sort of a standard tool in graphic art. I'm sure if you searched google for GIMP tutorials you bound to find one that will help. You can always as people in The Gallery questions as its the board dedicated to art.

Google "photoshop tutorials" 95% of them can be followed using gimp (you just have to take into account different namings of functions/tools).

As for the whole Photoshop vs GIMP argument is down to budget, personal choice and OS. I've used both, but personally use GIMP a lot more to save cash.

Wrong it is only $650. There are other ways of getting it but they can not be discussed. You can also get it though the educational store for much cheaper too.

Why is this in Tech & Computers. Shouldn't this be in the Gallery? :?

I guess it could be either or. Personally i think it should be in gallery as he would receive better assistance.

Those are the main source of resources that I use.

Just a little tip, don't get too involved with smudging because in order to make it look good to you and to others, you have to understand what to smudge, where to smudge it and how to control it. So I suggest you to experiment with other areas such as vector, manipulation, C4D usage, and tutorials.
