Im fairly new to tip.it, and im sure your going to say USESEARCHBAR, but I didnt see any threads like this on the front page so I thought it would be okay.

 

 

 

Anyway, my story begins with a my old best friend. I was at his house and he told me to log onto rs because he wanted to see my bank. Not suspecting anything, I logged on and showed him my bank. All was good, until I discovered his keylogger. Coincidentially, he had to go somewhere and asked me to leave. I was nervous and deleted my pass from the keylogger and left. I found out the hard way that keyloggers made backup files. He never spoke to me again, In real life that is.

 

 

 

I am now Thunderducke, lv 33 and making progress. my total is also 2xx, but im still kinda mad. My old account frequently messages me. Taunts, insults, you name it. Hell, he even ksed me with my own cannon once. So now im trying to get it all back. One step at a time...

 

 

 

Its not all bad though. In fact, I kinda like being low lvd again. Made the game fresh again, you know? Even though I lost 4 years worth of work, im still having fun \

You could probably recover the account but does it warrant a whole topic?

Use recovs to get your account back, or at least banned fo lyfe.

I was level 49, F2P, back in the good ol' days, and I person said making account member's. I was only 11 or 12. I was reluctant at first, but succumbed to the offer. Recovery questions changed, password changed, never got it back.

 

 

 

But im P2P now, level 93, and im all good now.

I think you mean "keylogged", I got "keylogged" once then learned about computers and haven't ever been logged since, generally only people who don't know what they're doing get keylogged so it's kind of their own fault.

I was never "hacked". However, when I was a new player, I fell for the old "type your password and jagex censors it!! Look!! **** < That's my password" scam. After he logged out and I saw my password show up, I quickly changed my password. He didn't even access my account yet, lol. He probably forgot the password. :P

There've been numerous topics about this, and if it's not on the front page it probably means it's not very important and not interesting to people to hear other peoples runescape history.

P.S. How the hell did your friends know your recovery questions?

Sorry to say but it sounds like there is nothing more you can do. Obviously he is not the friend you thought he was, and you may be better off having your parents speak to his parents.

 

 

 

The best advice I can give you for the future is to keep your account secure. Never enter your password on any other website except http://www.Runescape.com. As long as you keep your recovery questions set and up to date, then in the event that your account is somehow stolen, you can easily recover it. Never tell anyone your password, pin number, or recovery questions.

READ THIS THUNDERDUCKEWell since you said something about your own cannon, I'd say you have had members. I'm sure if he used a keylogger on you the recoveries have been changed. But if you have used a credit card on that account, and you know the past passwords you will be on your way to getting sweet sweet revenge. :thumbsup: (Hope this works for you, this guy sounds like a jerk)

 

 

 

Anyway, I got hacked once lost about 8-10mil (In items and cash mostly runes when bloods were very high). Me and my friend shared account passwords to help transfer pk'ing items for our pures. (The good ole days of rs :cry: ) Anyway he had all of our accounts written down on paper, I told him to get rid of it but I guess he never did. Anyway I get on my account after recovering and pretty much anything of value had been cleaned out, my runes,seeds, and herb stockpile (Tons of money in unids). Only thing of value left was my DH glad he didn't repair it and get rid of it. Here I am got about maybe 7mil in cash and items now and am wc'ing my butt off when I am playing. Moral of the story: never tell anyone your password.

 

 

 

Also get off the guys back, this could server as a good topic for others who haven't yet been hacked, and hopefully the solution to this guys problem.

I'm pretty sure almost everybody here is smart enough not to share their passwords with other people or log in at another person's house, like some...

Another tip for next time...make your recovery questions a little more vague. Make them something that only YOU would know. Not something that others can guess.

I fell for that one, I remember seeing "Monkeybeast0's password is monkey!(waits for several people to try to log into my account)" and "lol nub password". Recovered it within the day. Pretty sure they didn't even take anything. Gotta say I kind of miss scamming made the game feel more real.

You've had member, how did you pay? That's really what Jagex cares about. Credit card? Give them the number, they pretty much hand your account over right then and there. PayByCash? What method? Go to Runescape>Account Management>Recover a lost or stolen password.

Yeah that's really sad. Shows what kind of person he was; a jealous nerd. I mean for God's sake it's a game.... Does he really value imaginary items in a game over a friendship?

 

 

 

Anyway to answer the original question of the thread: no, I have never had my character stolen.

Ive been hacked once...and it was my fault.

 

My friend wanted to see my stuff and stats. I didn't know about the hiscores back then so I just went ahead and gave him my pass (stupid, right? :wall:)This is were it gets interesting, he changed the pass and put recovery questions on it, and then HE got it hacked. I got it back a few months later and me and him are still friends, I'm not going to hold a grudge over him because of my personal stupidity :D

I wish the same was for me, my first account the guy used to scam more peoples accounts, I wad lvl 12 :P
