Has any scientific study shown "Emo" music actually leads to a rise in suicide and self-mutilation rates among teenagers? I'm yet to meet a "Emo" who actually cuts themselves or has even tried to commit suicide :?

 

 

 

 

 

Consider yourself lucky then. From what I know/heard 4 or 5 (maybe 6) people I know have tryed commiting suicide, More have cut themselves (one tryed to use a paper clip :wall: , one used a razor blade in the middle of class...An ambulance was called :wall: ).

 

 

 

But back O.T, I don't see anything wrong with it, I really don't want some deppressed kid dragging my great mood down, or making me think like that. So cut the problem at the roots & it can't grow.

Sure I could explain.

 

Most Emo's I know (and I know quite a few) are the people that don't really fit in any social groups, they become depressed and do the whole, "emo" thing. Now first of all they didn't fit in anywhere because they were either boring, stupid, immature or something like that. Wearing dark isn't gonna change that, they're still the same immature (example) person . A lot of "bad" people like that turn Emo, which is just a large group of unpleasant people, that nobody likes.

 

 

 

2) Stop complaining about how your life sucks and change what's bad about it. Try not to be a [bleep] to people, or get some friends or whatever. Instead of crying and whining (and cutting :o ) do something about it. Emo's are just normal people that can't change their life around turning into loosers.

 

 

 

3) What the hell is up with the whole "wear dark" and "listen to goth music [cabbage]?". That's just mainstream, I bet if all the depressed people started wearing pink, your average emo will start wearing pink too. Be somebody.

It's not all the immature, idiotic, and boring kids. I've seen extremely happy people go to an "emo" phase. I won't lie, I did go through mine (this'll start a riot, oh god). But rest assured I didn't wear all black and dressed goth. I actually wore pretty baggy clothing, but my hair was long and over my eye.

Ok, I don't want to see a white suburban kid acting like a stereotypical black gang member (no-offence meant), does that mean we have the right to outlaw Rap / Gangsta music? Nope it doesn't, you can only outlaw stuff for genuine reasons :|

 

 

 

There's also a difference between genuinely trying to commit suicide and your average "Emo" attempt. It's like the paper clip scenario, they're deliberately not going to do much damage to themselves yet they'll do enough for attention. That's the difference between some Emo kid making a mix of vodka and medicine cabinet pills or a genuinely depressed person putting a gun to their head and pulling the trigger.

 

 

 

If the Emo can drag your mood down and make you think depressed thoughts then you must have quite a weak mindset :|

I see alot of you don't like this idea, well why not look from the governments point of view? You feel like you were a communist country just yesterday and now there are all these kids who are depressed and seem to be a growing group, you fear that if this continues, in x years these emos will be the ones who need to be in government, yet the won't do anything, even if they wanted to do the job. You start to fear that maybe, someday, your country will be invaded and taken over by another country. Wouldn't you try to stop this from happening?
