It's not really that. It's the "because I can attitude". There's a reason why the most commonly bullied kids are emos and nerds - they can't defend themselves. I don't know about all of you, but I never see punks and metal heads getting picked on nearly as much as emos. They listen to music with complaining and they dress in dull colors most of the time too. So what is the difference? The difference is that punks and metal heads are kind of like a more "hardcore" version of emo, and they're not really associated with innocence as much as emos are. I mean honestly, the toughest kids around aren't emos. That's exactly why they get picked on.

 

 

 

Now don't get me wrong, I hate emo music and the whole fad. But if you ask me, picking on them is just a waste of time and shows that all you can handle are the weak ones. I pick on the tough kids instead. ;)

 

 

 

In recapitulation: People should pick on people their own size if they really want to pick.

And as Kranked said, we need some kind of research done for this "emo music". Just because it's associated with wrist cutting and suicides, doesn't mean it directly leads to it. Its like banning low hanging pants because its associated with gang activity. Even though I hate people who wear their pants so low, it still doesn't make sense.

 

We don't "need" anything of the sort. Anyone with the capability to carry out some accurate research on the topic is smart enough to realize there's no correlation.

If this "ban" goes through then Rap will be on the cards next since it promotes gun violence, pimping and drug abuse, well done Russia \ [/sarcasm]

This is mainly because Gerard and other band members got off the drugs and alcohol.

Despite all the jokes that could/have been made, this is stupid. Targeting depression and other mental illnesses is more likely to have an impact on suicide rates.

 

 

 

Targeting something like emo is pissing around the edges of the problem.

Altho it pretty much craps human rights in face, i would be pretty much happy, or wouldn't care if they did that. Yet they really should outlaw the...no idea how to call them but theyre about 50% of russian people from 15-25 years old. The ones with knike shoes, sadidas sweatpants, with 3 stripes on them (important),sadidas/abibas jacket etc. Enjoy that pic.

But my real opinion is: emos shouldnt be banned because they "encourage suicide and depression", because if someone is pathetic enough to be an emo or goth, its a boost for all society if they do kill themselves. \

Anyway skinny legs, skinny arms, skinny torso, long black hair in an emo cut, tight shirt, tight skinny jeans, studded belt, etc. Oh and by the way my new school has three kinds of people: prep, emo, and goth.

 

 

 

I'm pretty sure you emo haters would kill yourselves just by going to my school. Anyway plenty of game for me. ;) BTW, I showed up at school dressed like a prep. So yeah.

All I know is I remember when you changed your opinions so much that everyone was pretty scared of you. Not in a bad way, I mean go ahead and do whatcha wanna do. Just sayin', though.

Has any scientific study shown "Emo" music actually leads to a rise in suicide and self-mutilation rates among teenagers? I'm yet to meet a "Emo" who actually cuts themselves or has even tried to commit suicide :?

 

 

 

 

 

 

Consider yourself lucky then. From what I know/heard 4 or 5 (maybe 6) people I know have tryed commiting suicide, More have cut themselves (one tryed to use a paper clip :wall: , one used a razor blade in the middle of class...An ambulance was called :wall: ).

 

 

 

But back O.T, I don't see anything wrong with it, I really don't want some deppressed kid dragging my great mood down, or making me think like that. So cut the problem at the roots & it can't grow.
