September 1, 200817 yr No this is not a topic of the quality of the GD, but rather on the topic of the number of stickies/announcements. This is the current lay out we have as of 7:08 EDT Sept. 1st 2008 Current: Announcements: Tipit Homeworlds (World 99 and 7) & Team Cape (39-Green) Stickies: Tip.it P2P & F2P Hi-score List Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here! Hidden Updates Introduce Yourself to Tip.It!!! [sTABLE] The Tip.It Firefox Addon What happened to Lightning chat? Missing Person List Almost Got Scammed? Want To Tell Your Story? Post It Here! Leaving/Taking a break from Runescape or Tip.It Offer or Request house services here! [updated System] Clan Chat Directory - Post Your Chat Info Here! I count 11 stickies and 1 announcement, and if you want to, 2 global announcements as well. That is way too many. I've always been taught, "The less stickies, the better." My suggestion is to please reduce what is there. Here is my unformal proposal: Remove: What happend to Lightning chat? Desticky: Missing Person List Almost Got Scammed? Want To Tell Your Story? Post It Here! Offer or Request house services here! [updated System] Clan Chat Directory - Post Your Chat Info Here! Combine: Introduce Yourself to Tip.It!!! Leaving/Taking a break from Runescape or Tip.It With just my suggestion, it greatly reduces the amount of stickies by half! But you don't even have to use just my proposal, you could even cut it by even more. My suggestion is to please look over it and think about it. It just burdens to see so many stickies for one forum. A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.
September 2, 200817 yr I honestly never thought we needed the "Tipit Homeworlds" sticky.. I mean there is already one in the Announcements forum (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=380581). If any of your suggested topics are destickied, I would recommend making an index and stickying that. That way people will always be able to find those threads (we all know the Search function isn't the best), and moderators will have a quick reference to it, in the event that they need to lock a thread that should be in a pre-existing one. And I really think that "Clan Chat Directory" and "Almost Got Scammed?" can just be removed. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
September 2, 200817 yr I have to admit, half of them don't even need to be there anymore. It is just stretching the page down further. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
September 2, 200817 yr D_V_Devnull's recommended (and least destructive) solution to this whole mess... Just make an index of current stickies, pin it up, and de-sticky the threads which the index is linking down to. Problem solved. ~D. V. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
September 2, 200817 yr I always thought there were a lot of stickys, but most of them are needed. Granted the Lightning chat one was not supposed to be up this long, I made it because a lot of people were asking. General Discussion is the most popular board, I think having lots of stickys and announcements just comes with the territory.
September 2, 200817 yr I think the "I got scammed" sticky can be removed too now, since scamming (as far as I know, I haven't played in a year) can't really occur anymore. But if it can, I think it should stay just because every person who does get scammed feels the need to make a thread about it otherwise.
September 3, 200817 yr De-sticky the unimportant ones, but replace them with Devoted's sticky guide, but try and make it so that the 'General' stickies are clearly seen first or are quoted at the top of the sticky, then the rest of Devoted's link index can be below it, or whoever does make the post to be stickied, could just quote the General Discussion links, and then link to Devoted's Sticky guide. Best solution in my opinion, and easiest.
September 3, 200817 yr I've taken down the Lightning Chat sticky, since I only planned to have it there for a bit. The others will be discussed and we'll see the best action to take.
September 3, 200817 yr I agree there are too many stickies. Some can be removed. We'll see which ones. Hopefully, the board won't be cluthered with posts which now belong in the stickies, else they'll have to return. "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do"[Currently playing: K1ll L1f3]

September 3, 200817 yr I would keep house services there though, it is a very helpful service to players looking for an altar. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM

RIP MichaelangelopolousThanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig!
September 3, 200817 yr I think that maybe the house services sticky can be moved to the marketplace forum? I mean, that is for services and items. Also, I think that the clan chat directory sticky should stay. If we remove it, people will just post their clan chat in General Discussion or somewhere else. (Even if the other sticky in Off Topic will be used instead, people will post it anyway because they won't automatically see the sticky.)
September 7, 200817 yr Changed. 5 stickies gone, 1 new sticky, that's a total of 4 stickies gone! :D "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do"[Currently playing: K1ll L1f3]

Good job guys  I also agree. Much, much more gentle on my scrolling finger now. That, and I just ran into a couple threads I have to let wait for the morning, but I'm going to be reading them, now that I get the chance to actually notice non-pinned stuff. :D Kill_Life, you have my thanks also. ~D.
