Da Pirates
As you may have noticed, you do not have to 13+ to make a RuneScape account. Seriously, go try to make an account right now using a year of 1996 or after. You can create an account but you will be only limited to QuickChat worlds. I find it sickening that a 3 year old can play RS without lying about their age. How will this affect RS? Soon that 3 year old will tell his little friend "Hey goto this cool site called RuneScape, you get to run around and kill monsters." This could be taken 2 ways; this could mean that more immature children can flock to this site, some lying about their age to get to the normal chat worlds and spamming them up; or it could mean that little Johnny could go out and beat up all his friends, and blame it on RuneScape, in which his family sues Jagex and boom, no more RS for us. I don't know about Jagex letting people under 13 play. BR BR BR? HUEHUEHEUEHUE

onuasdad
The violene in runscape definatly isn't suitable for a 5 year old. I think they should mak an age limit of at least 6 years. Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.
Makoto_the_Phoenix
It seems that you're not one to read the ToS. It clearly states in there that you can make an account if you're younger than 13, but you won't be able to see any chat besides QuickChat until you become of age. Now can we PLEASE let these "issues" die? Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago. EarthySun
Five-year-olds can't even type. Heck, a lot of them can't even READ! I think that it truly doesn't matter if they just see QuickChat. So, basically Earthysun is Jesus's only son.

Guest
I think the limit should be lowerd to 11 or 12..Think about it, 12-13 isnt much of a difference, and "real" changes in your brain occour at ages 17-19.
Lt_Surge
To be completely honest, if there is a three-year-old who is smart enough to make an account, an their parents/guardians are okay with it, we may as well let 'em play. Unless they decide "I wanna be a big kid" and make their age like 20 and go around typing random crap. But, a we won't have to worry about three-year-olds doing that. Now, some eleven-year-old might go lieing about their age, with all of their friends eventually joining in, but, really... If they're immature, they'll probably quit in less than three months, and if they're not, then there's no problem... Right? When I see people say it, I pronounce it "poon" in my head. Makes more sense to me. My friend said it in real life once and I almost kneed him in the family-maker.$DO || ! $DO ; trytry: command not found

Makoto_the_Phoenix
How about some mature worlds? Possibly 18+ or even higher? I know for one I would always be logged into it. Two questions. 1) What would the point of that be, and 2) How would Jagex ensure that the only people on those servers are over 18? Internet anonymity is a bother. Two questions. 1) What would the point of that be, and 2) How would Jagex ensure that the only people on those servers are over 18? Internet anonymity is a bother. The point being that allot of people don't want to play with immature kids who think they have top priority on everything (Take Slayer tasks for example) They are annoying and a constant nuisance, whilst causing nothing but distress to those around them. The attitudes of the younger age groups are atrocious and quite frankly getting away from that would ensure I can play the game in a more suitable environment. Making sure people are of correct age would be a problem, but with the current amount of people signed up to Runescape, I doubt an extra 100,000 are going to sign up/make a new character just to use a mature world. Obviously allot of people could lie about their age, but for the general population I would like to think that they were at least truthful when signing up. I don't think it's a bad idea, it could work quite well and even attract more over 18's who were previously put off by the lameness of the younger generations actions. jemathonical
More customers for Jagex, more money for them. The internet is growing and more younger kids are exposed to it at an earlier age then most of us. They are even teaching kids to use the internet early in primary school. Sooner or later more younger people will be playing Runescape. Most will lie about their age, but since they are allowed to be playing at <13 then I'm pretty sure most will say their correct age and will be able to chat with quick chat, and protecting them a little more. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it! Bang, and the dirt is gone, Best reason right there, unless you want us to start putting in birth certificate info when we join  And if a faimly sues jagex for violence i will person pay for the settlement, theres more violence on the news ffs, Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,I like to think I walk this line every day. mememe513
Any kid who can do that at age 3 is a genius. The possible situation you described is highly unlikely, but you do make a good point about lots of underage players joining. Some 10 year olds (like I was when I joined) are mature and spam infrequently. Age is not a perfect factor to decide maturity as people mature at different speeds. Not really, theres a thread on Rsof where paul comments that the update isnt aimed at anyone and that most younger players probably wont get alot of the spy/penguin jokes. dirk4slayer
Kids that young don't understand the game. If they even make it through the tutorial, they'll probably quit after getting slaughtered by an angry goblin. Chuck Norris doesn't ever need a compass; he randomly points somewhere and north goes there in order not to anger him.
