When you inadverantly kill yourself with a rifle because you forget to always treat a gun as though it is loaded, you just did society a favor and removed yourself from the gene pool making it safer for non-West Virginians to breed.(sorry to all those who are from West Virginia if I offended you)

I have never had a gun, and thanks to gun laws, it will take ages to apply for one. Even I knew when I was like 12 to always treat a gun as loaded, and the closest I've had to using a gun was an air rifle, only got 1 shot, recoil was like :shock: (was 11 at the time, so now it would feel like a slight push on my sholder)

I remember the first time my dad took me to the shooting range. Before we left the house, he went over all the rules, multiple times, and even gave me a written exam to make sure I knew them. He couldn;t over-emphasize the gun always being loaded.

I wish people would stop condemning the video game scapegoat only to turn around and blame the gun. When I was eleven I owned a .22 and a 4/10, not to mention various air rifles. The reason that kid is dead and I am not is that I am not a fool. I listened when my parents instructed me in gun safety. Sure, the parents were negligent in locking the gun safely away and making sure it was unloaded, and if they failed to give the boy instruction then they are even more at fault. However, the fact that the kid had a gun does not have anything to do with it in itself.

But yea, pretty sad way to die, but to be honest it's a common mistake a lot of people do make, not realizing to take out that one bullet that 'may' stay in there. Just video games was involved. >.>

I'd never let my kid near a gun till he's 15+, yes kids have had guns at 11 but I'd never feel safe around a 11 year old with a gun, they just don't know much responsibility lies in having a gun and using it correctly, it's not a toy like many video games portray.

 

 

 

Gladly, I live in a country where only hunting rifles are allowed and stringent laws are in place. I love being in a country where guns aren't legal (well handguns and small SMG's like the Uzi or Tec-9) and people don't run on the theory "more of the problem will make us safer" :|

A gun with no magazine might look ok to go "pew! pew! pewpewpew!!" with but many people forget there is often a bullet waiting in the chamber for someone to pull the trigger on unawarely and for [cabbage] to happen.

That...just might be the best social experiment ever. We'd either end up with a very liberal, soft-drug social-user, definitely very informed on the world, and looking for a balance in government, or a moderatly shaped, well-rounded kid. Not highly conservative, there's really not too many of those around here- we all remember the political compass thead. But that...that would be interesting....

 

 

 

Oh, yea, the dead kid. I guess, as pryo said (still getting used to it not being pyro, I found that out a few months ago), adults these days didn't grow up with video games. They don't really know them. This generation, on the other hand, was born with a controller in it's hand. Sort of. I know I won't grow into the type to blame video games.

An 11 year old child should never have access to a gun. I don't care if it's common in some areas, it is reckless, an 11 year old is nowhere near mature enough to be allowed near a weapon. It's not the games fault it's the child's parents fault for giving him a gun.

Well hypothetically speaking, he could have been shot in the head after being killed by somebody else in order to make it look like a suicide (an accidental one in this case). If medical examination weren't done in these cases a lot more people would get away with murder.
