September 8, 200817 yr I have seen their news about the "Batch" in the Jagex store/shop. Quite honestly i find it funny, how they put Runescape logo on things like pencilcase, t-shirt and so on. Reason i find it funny is cause i know not many will be appealed to buy these things, i know i wouldn't. I play the game for the fun of it and also cause how i can interact with other players. If i didn't i would just a play regular PC CD/Console game. Now this is not a complaint, i just wanna hear what everyone thinks about the Jagex Store and way Jagex is using it to earn some cash and advertise aswell. Do you believe Jagex has thought through the products? Like did they just say "Let's make a pencil case and put logo on it , and that was that? Or did they think well into the product and was like "That can be bad, cause it can lead to "Something". Now i know for sure kids get bullied at school, and i can imagen that kids can bulled for a "Runescape Pencil" or they could be admired cause maybe the whole class plays it  But i do know, that if Jagex made products without thinking of the customers then they are being plain Greedy. Ok, next thing is do you find this Shop nessecary? I personally find it ok, it's nothing bad to advertise. But the prodcuts on other hand, is very stupid lol. Why would i buy a cup for expensive cash, just cause they have "Runescape" on it? It's not the logo i drink with lol. Do you find this kind of advertisement that's attatched to your daily life right and do you like a game trying to influence your real life by what you use or wear or whatever? I don't find this kind of advertisement good, ill say it again: why would pay more for a jacket? It only leads to these: - Me getting bullied (Lets hope noone knows Runescape is, if i do wear one hahhahha) - Me advertising Jagex = Whres my share of the "JOB" i do! - Me paying more for thing i can get cheaper nearby :? Ill say this again too: I don't mind the Jagex store, but i think they got bad focus on products. I for sure, would not be surprised if a kid gets into a conflict with a other kid in class rooms. Where the newsline is "Kid playing Runescape, stabbed by WoW player" . Even though the "Wow vs Runescape" is funny, i am serious that these can maybe happend. You never know.

That's a pretty pathetic reason not to sell merchandise, and going by your logic no company should ever sell merchandise, just on the grounds that some kid somewhere may not like it enough to make fun of someone else for wearing it. That would be like JK Rowling cancelling the last Harry Potter book, despite millions of people wanting it, just because some of her fans may be bullied for liking the books. Also: I'm sure Jagex, like any other company, would rather not think of thier playerbase as submissive kiddies who get bullied on a daily basis.
September 8, 200817 yr Author That was just a example, and it's not bad logic. If a product is released, it should be gotten through with it for safety of what can occur. As for kids being bullied, Jagex thinks alot about kids safety on Runescape. Rules...Updates...
September 8, 200817 yr You base a lot of your statement on a faulty "fact", being that all RS players are kids in school. Many of us are adults, we just don't shout as loud. ;) The reason for Jagex offering RS merchandise is because people have asked for it. That means there is a market for it, even though it might not be huge. You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?
September 8, 200817 yr That was just a example, and it's not bad logic. If a product is released, it should be gotten through with it for safety of what can occur. Safety of what can occur, that means "Hey, can people choke on this? Get strangled by it? Get latched onto a moving vehicle? Will it poison them? Could infants pull off and consume parts? etc". Safety testing does not include "Hey, will someone wearing this get his [wagon] kicked by someone else who doesn't like our product?". Like I said, in that case no company would ever, ever, release merchandise. For example, WOW merchandise, or merchandise on Comedy Central shows. I wouldn't have my Big Daddy figurine, nor would I have two small plush dogs from Target (Got them as an employee), and I certainly wouldn't have two foam darwinians coming in the mail with my collectors edition of Multiwinia.
September 8, 200817 yr Author I know theres adults in the game, but i don't see things that is done for them much more than is done for kids. So i am just saying what kind of group Jagex might go after lol
September 8, 200817 yr Why would i buy a cup for expensive cash, just cause they have "Runescape" on it? It's not the logo i drink with lol. WHy would you buy any cup... To drink from it. whether or not it has a logo on. Maybe Out of the MILLIONS of players who play this arn't ashamed and would like a product from jagex. You have made this thread to basicly point fun at people buying the producs. You'r bulling the people With out acctualy knowing it. September 8, 200817 yr If people want to wear runescape related clothing, or have runescape related items, let them have them. Its their choice and their money. People who bully around kids for wearing something they enjoy is just plain stupid. Bullies are just sad people who want attention anyway. Why shouldnt jagex make an item with runescape on it? They are selling merchandise for their game. If anyone wanted to buy something that doesnt have runescape on it, then go to a mall or something. I think people buy the items in there and more things that will attract others will come in the future. Its not a bad idea. ........::::: Rainy's YouTube Channel - Rainy's Twitter - Rainy's Facebook - Rainy's DeviantArt - Rainy's Tumblr - Rainy's Tip.It Profile :::::.........

Forgot about that fact :wall: Though i would not buy a cup lol
September 8, 200817 yr This is just one of those branding obsessions... I wouldn't buy something just because it has the RS logo on it. Paying extra for a brand name that most people don't care about kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.

If someone has such a twisted mind that they will kill somebody because they have different colour skin then what is to say the prejudice given to the game won't be taken too far some day?
September 8, 200817 yr If i wore a runescape shirt to school, i think i would last about 1 day, then have to transfer schools. September 8, 200817 yr It's all pretty much standard merchandise stuff. There are a lot of brands that have merchandising of this kind. In that light, I don't find it strange that a company with a huge ammount of fans is trying to introduce products with their logo on it. Brand merchandise is popular, I don't see why it's weird that Jagex is trying something like this. Twitter ||| Google+ ||| Facebook ||| LinkedIn ||| My very interesting weblog about science

September 8, 200817 yr Honestly, what you're saying can be compared to someone wearing FUBU or Rocawear. If someone happens to not like that brand, they get beat up. Seriously dude, grow up. If they want to wear something with the RuneScape logo on it, that's what they want to wear. Bullying someone over that is just below rock bottom. I don't think they would, if anything this thread just shows people wouldn't want to buy these things in the first place because of said bullying.
September 8, 200817 yr I wouldn't buy them, but people need pencilcases and stuff. Jagex are probably just reaching out to its "main" market base, which would of course be hgh school kids or around that age group. When they start coming out with Saradomin Brew Beers or likewise, then we can start taking the store seriously. - kMzLeader 99 Woodcutting99 Fletching99 Cooking~~Goals~~91/99 Range94/99 Fishing67/70 Summoning
September 8, 200817 yr Personally, if I owned a multimillion dollar company, I'd probably try to sell a couple T-shirts, and maybe a mug or two. Obviously, someone is buying this stuff, or they wouldn't have put out the second batch of merchandise. Would I buy anything? Sure, if they had something I wanted. So far, they don't, but I'm sure they will eventually. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
September 8, 200817 yr People did ask for it, which means they will buy whatever is being sold. Personally I'm more disgusted that people are buying stuff from it than said stuff being sold.
September 8, 200817 yr When they start coming out with Saradomin Brew Beers or likewise, then we can start taking the store seriously. I can just see the disclaimers now... "This beverage WILL NOT increase your Real Life abilities." ... And then a ton of people ignore the warning, because of how it tastes or something, and try to do crazy stunts. :boohoo: Yeah, I can just see another movie full of "Epic Fail" coming to a big screen near me. That, and a lot of injured people. -.- (If you don't get the humor, re-read it in a sarcastic tone of voice.) ~Mr. D. V.
