4 Hour Rule?

Just 1 hour ago I bought an item, which I put up for sale again shortly after. I was aware of the 4 hour no-sell-after-buy rule though. However, just now the item got sold on the Grand Exchange... Did this rule change?

I'm positive. I bought the items ( more than one of the same item) at around 15.30 GMT, it's 16.55 GMT now.

If you bought before the update was released and sold after the update that may have reset the timers.

It does apply to everything, you could be lying. You have no proof of how long you brought/sold the item... Just words :wall:

I put the offer in as I got home from school, and sold a little over an hour later...

This has happened to me a few times, maybe a glitch with a few items - i'm not sure.

Maybe it happens when you buy and sell in small amounts? Though that wouldn't make too much sense if the 4 hour rule is to slow down merchanting.

You buy 50 d boots in 1hr 30 mins

 

You then sell those d boots in 2hrs

 

You have to wait 30mins - 4hrs(I do not remember if the 'timer' starts at the last item you buy/sell or the first)

No it doesn't work like that sadly. If so, I could buy 50 AGS's, and then sell them back in the same four hour time period. The time limit is probably set to the specific item, if not all the groups of the same items you have. So in other words, I buy 100 D Boots, but I already have one pair. Could it be legitimate to say I could sell that on pair within the same four hours? Or are all the D Boots bound to that time period? Still, you can't buy 50 D Boots in 2 minutes, and expect them to sell in two hours.

 

 

 

Either way, the only four logical explanations are that:

 

A.) You placed the offer before the GE updated. It updated minutes later, thus resetting the clock.

 

B.) You placed the offer before the Clan Wars update, which later reset the clock.

 

C.) You're lying, and offer no proof of the selling, which I suppose wouldn't make sense, since you have nothing to gain.

 

D.) Another bug in the GE.

He's saying I can buy 50 D Boots, and then sell them back in the same four hours, since it does total up to 100(the max on non raw items). Or at least, I get that impression, and you can't do that.

I'm thinking it's option D, as updates usually happen a few hours before I get back from school (and the update had already happened when I got back from school) ... So the Clan Wars update probably already happened...
