ok, so im mining gold in arzinian mines. as you all know, mining is boring, and downright impossible to focus on if u dont have anything else to do/look at/read.

 

 

 

so, im mining gold. i mine one, click on the next rock, and then switch tabs to tip.it forums, reading stuff in the general discussion. as im reading, i hear a *BOOM* and think, oh sh*t, my pick just broke.

 

 

 

now, the trip to bob is a long one. first, i home tele (edgeville, on ancients), and then bank my gold, then take out 1100gp, then ride a canoe down to lumby. then fix the axe, get 150 gp, ride to barbarian village, go to dwarf mine, ride cart to keldagrim, bank rune axe, then go back to mines. not very fun.

 

 

 

y wont jagex put a sound effect for methane gas like a hissing sound mimicking the release of a gas. then, as i switch to forums after clicking on the next rock to be mined, and it so happens that that one is a random methane bubble thingy one, i can hear *hisssssss* and then switch back b4 my pick gets bent and i take 10dmg, then have to make that tedious, annoying journey.

They do say not to be doing anything else whilst you're logged in. That included going to the toilet.

Yeah Chef is right. It's kind of your responsibility to be watching what's going on or else you have to suffer the consequences.

dont get me wrong, i love mining, but its soooooooo boring....

 

 

 

and this no-sound thing applies to ents too. but i mean, why? they have sound for axe heads flying off. why not sound for smoking rocks and living trees?

Have you tried to split your screen? If you have widescreen it is pretty easy to have Runescape on one half and a browser on the other. This way you can focus on both pretty easily and is not against the rules (last time i contacted a mod about it anyways).

A faster solution would, if you're mining gold for an extended period of time, go back to normal magics. Also, do Another Slice of Ham so you can use the Dorgesh-Khan and Keldagrim train.

I see how your situation can be bad, but JaGeX doesn't really want people to AFK or AFW. This just caters to people that aren't doing what JaGeX wants them to. :ohnoes:

randoms r there to make sure that u r at the keyboard and not macroing or even sleeping. + that is why any xpert miner has his trusty back up pickaxe incase his breaks.

Bring a spare pickaxe.

Eh, since most other things in the game have distinct sounds, you do have a point with your rant. I don't see why these random events wouldn't have some kind of associated sounds, if others do.

I've wondered about that as well... Some randoms have sounds, some don't. Doesn't seem logical at all. Gods, how many bird nests have I missed while woodcutting... Working with split screens, like Shazarabbit suggests, is a great solution. You can still read and not miss a thing on RS. But still... how many months ago did Jagex announce they were going to drop the randoms?

it's not really afk. i'm not autoing. I'm just not looking at the runescape window as I mine

Good rant. The noise would make a great addition to gameplay. I have 6 rune wc axes of which 5 are broken due to Ents.

 

Most times I break these sort of items is when I watch TV at same time eg I might want to watch a replay of a goal or there might be an important piece of dialoque within a film. This is hardly what JAGeX want to prevent. The most annoying thing is that it is autoers proper that never get caught by the randoms as they are programmed to run.

I agree with the OP, the rest of you haters are crazy. There should be a sound.
