My mom has just given the OK for me to get the materials and to build a Charcoal Foundry!!

Smelting in real life basically XD

(AFAIK the size I'm planning on only goes up to 7-800 degrees C, enough for Zinc and Aluminum )

I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.

Why..?

Also, isn't that really ridiculously dangerous?

make me some zinc legs plx!!!!!1111

sounds awesome, and yes be careful with hot molten metals

where are you putting this thing? doesn't sound like it belongs in your room or anything

what are the costs for making your own foundry?

Why..?

i'd have to say the same thing. Haven't met many people excited about making metals at ubar hot tempatures.

Guess you learn something everyday

What's the use of this? You're going to make rune armour at home?

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

It's actually not that hard my dad built one out of this kinda ceramic stuff i think it wasn't very big but you could melt low melting point metals like aluminum with just using a propane torch.

i use hot metals all the time, i have made lots of things. stalls, seats other stuff.

it aint that dangerous, just have to be careful. ive never injured myself before, and i work with over 1000 degrees of temeperatures

Hmm.. 700-800 degrees shouldnt be to hard :)

Hope you can make something decent out of it!

It'll be going around the machine shed for easy access to tools

I can't imagine the total material cost being more than $50

The only metal I succesfully mellted is lead, so enjoy metalurgy!

Do be careful if you're going to do aluminium: I seem to remember that it can explode when you heat/melt it. I'd read up about that before you go doing anything with aluminium.

What I suggest you start with is lead, as it also has a very low melting point, and is far less dangerous--even if it is poisonous; you're not exactly going to be drinking it, are you?

A little research, and that seems like it's mostly just from melted aluminum coming in contact with water
