Cheaters on Xbox Live

I was playing Xbox live for the first time, excited to be playing Halo 3 online. And then, the enivitable. First I played some fun zombie game...I don't remember what it was called...but it was fun and cheater free...(plus...I plasma grenaded a warthog and it flipped into this other guy who was walking along...classic halo Multiplayer fun..)

But then, I played this level that was like a warehouse...I called it sniper city because all it was was a place for sniping. There was a corridor on the left side of this part of the map, and everytime I went down it...some guy would appear out of nowhere and continually throw grenades...either that, or some guy would come up behind me with a sword and kill me.

So me and my friend Aaron were playing...and we were sick to death of hearing people screaming on the mic..."YOU NOOBS! WE [bleep]IN OWN YOU!"

We ran into this circular room with an energy sword in it. We both got one and waited in the corner next to the door. It may have been noob tactics, but cheating makes you look like a complete idiot.

We killed tons of people and soon died.

It became so obvious as I played Halo on live that all it was good for was people cheating. I only played one game that did not involve cheating.

I have heard this is a problem all over Xbox live. COD4 had an article in Game Informer about cheaters.

So basically...talk about your experience with cheaters, and how much you hate them.

Xbox Live? Whats ur GT? Anyways, I don't really have stories of cheaters... But I do have a story about my friend...

He walks through walls. Yup. No lag, but he walks through wall and escaped the Grifball court.

thats cheating? they wouldn't even need a sword if they were behind you anyways

When you are in a corridor...and the only was in is from one way, which I have looked around at...thats cheating...people do appear behind you out of nowhere, they do that everywhere too...and I know the back portion of the corridor is not an enemy teams respawn...I even did this with some of my guys following me and someone appeared behind me...and killed me...they would have have to gone through my guys to get to me...

Yeah, it's pretty bad. That and the awful lag are the reasons I no longer play Halo. Microsoft needs to take harder action against these cheaters. What is it they use? Like a switch or something that makes everyone else freeze?

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Thats exactly why I am not getting Halo for Live...

I played a lot of Gears of War on Live and did not experience so much cheating that it ruined the fun...It was a boatload of fun...

I don't know about COD4 but from what I heard, they are patching it up.

There are no cheaters. The corridor you're talking about has many entrances if I'm right about the one you're talking about. In fact, I'm sure it's the one on The Pit since you mentioned a sword room. In which case, there's 3 entrances. Everything you said can be explained.

Cheaters are no reason to not Get H3 because there are no cheaters besides the noobs that use standby, and in my 2000 something games that has happened to me exactly once, and I can't even say for sure that they were doing it then.

it is impossible to mod or cheat in any way on halo 3 live.

have you considered the possibility that they were just better than you? ah, but of course, if they beat you then they must have been cheating.

You just described what everyone says every time they die, this statement has my personal seal of approval.

The only map that makes sense on is Guardian (circular area and a corridor with 'only one way to get into it' = the shotgun corridor). For the record, it is possible to drop down from the hallway above into the shotgun corridor - and thus, get behind anyone standing in it. People throwing grenades at you are not cheating by any means.

In fact, your tales of Halo combine many maps, as the only warehouse-esque map is Foundry, which is only decent for sniping at best. If, in fact you were talking about a corridor on Foundry, the only possible one that could have 'only one entrance' is the back room with the bubble shield, which in fact has two entrances, along with a breakable window that can be used for throwing in grenades.

For circular rooms with swords - this can only be The Pit, where people camp in the sword room pretty often. Overused, easy to beat if you have any level of experience (though charging in stupidly can be quite fun  )

In a few hundred games of Halo 3 on Live (main means of keeping in contact with some friends), I have encountered cheaters maybe 3 times... All 3 times, it was people forcing everyone else to lag (not just a bad connection, as made obvious by the source of the lag being perfectly functional when he should've been stuck in black screen). This has nothing to do with actually modifying the game or hacking it in any way, it's taking advantage of a connection to make people lag. No other form of cheating is readily available on matchmaking (though presumably it is possible, it is also decently-well-monitored), so, sorry, but the people you played against were simply better than you :|

thats called standby-ing. i think bungie monitors for it though.

when someone camps in the sword room you can use the windows that look into that room to kill them easily.

Reminds me of this morning when I was playing TF2 on Gravel Pit as the Blue offensive team, I was running like mad as a scout to control point A when all of a sudden this sentry starts shooting me out of nowhere. I could'nt find anything and just decided to check my kill cam to see where it was.

Turned out, the sentry was at the bottom of the map floating... -.-

Not really cheating, but abusing a glitch.

And last year in Grifball, one of the finalists had gotten into the final by blackscreening. And, RT said "You should have tried moving!" Hahahaha

I've seen dispensers in the 2fort courtyards get kukri'd by snipers on the opposing team's battlements. Just an explosions and "so-n-so macheted dispenser (other dude)". Just once, though. Skywalking also seems pretty popular in Dustbowl.

I've been accused of hacking or cheating quite a few times, as with practically every case of that accusation it's simply because I'm better than the the people accusing me.

Thats what I say to my friends, but they know its a joke :)

The other day someone ended a Team Tactical game as me and my friends were "cheaters". Quite annoying really.

There are exactly... 2 Matchmade maps in Halo 3 that have a Sword in them. They are The Pit and Construct. The Pit is the only map that has what you described, a corridor with two entrances. However, The Pit also has Invisibility. They could have just as easily walked up behind you and gotten you with the Sword. Also, I can tell that you don't play Halo 3, so I'd assume you do not use your radar at all. What this means is that you were killed because the other player was better equipped, with a power-up, a power weapon, and more experience with the game. This is not cheating, this is a fair game. If you say Halo 3 has cheaters, don't be surprised with what you get from Gears. The last time I played it, about a year ago before my disc was scratched, cheating was all too easy. There's this thing called crabwalking. Basically, you are crouched as if taking cover, but you are running, and can change direction almost instantly. Even worse, you are able to shoot. This is cheating.

It is unfortunate that you're first Halo experience was an unpleasant one. I personally love the game. Each to his own I guess.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

It wasn't on Xbox Live but I was playing this reeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaallllllllllyyyyyyyyyy old (1999) WWII FPS on my PC. I had it since 2000 and I finally gave online a try. So, I connected and joined with my friends (This was actually yesterday) and went to a level I went to before in Single Player. Just walking around looking for some Nazis to own. When about eight [bleep]ing [wagon] started jumping like a ninja and used lightsabres to chop our heads off.

Turns out they used the "Ninja Reflex" and the "Lightsabre" cheats. Luckily about an hour later we flew a plane into their base.
