Kaphias
EDIT: first question answered... now, what herbs should I farm? Snaps I assume? I got 70 farm not to long ago, and now I'm addicted. I've made a basic plan to get 80 before winter break (about 8 weeks) by planting 4 Pineapple trees per day. It will cost me about 3.5M. I want to be able to get some of that back by growing herbs. The thing is, I can only count on getting on once, maybe twice per day (hence growing trees, which i can pay to be looked after) and I know I can't pay for herbs. I know I could make a profit even if some died, but thats when I would harvest them right after they're done. If a herb plant successfully becomes fully grown, and is then not harvested for, say a few days, would the plant have a chance of dieing? Or does it work that once a plant if fully grown, it's fully grown for good? Hope I made some sense... any questions, please ask. tryto
Once they're grown, that's it. They'll never die. Kaphias
Yeah, it's usually snaps. Snaps went through a crash though... Would that be snaps for all patches? (I don't have access to my arm's BTW) About how many would I get per patch and how many of them would die? 8,325th to 99 Firemaking 3/9/08 | 44,811th to 99 Cooking 7/16/084,968th to 99 Farming 10/9/09 | Runescaper August 2005-March 2010Tip.it Mod Feb. 2008-Sep. 2008 | Tip.it Crew Sep. 2008-Nov. 2009

(I don't have access to my arm's BTW) About how many would I get per patch and how many of them would die? I recommend getting access to My Arm's Patch, never have to worry about dying, and it's another patch of herbs! Do you have the Magic Secateurs? Usually with those you can get about 5 or 6 herbs a patch. So if you use the main 4 herb patches, that's 20-24 herbs, plus an additional 5 or 6 if you unlock My Arm's Patch. As for dying, I'm not sure, just factor in a patch dying every round or couple rounds. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~

Mimesenior
Toadflax seeds are about 250 gp each and the herbs are about 1.2k? They aren't good with money but the seeds are cheap and if they die you don't have to worry.
Eddo89
I calculated toadflax versus snapdragons a while back, so i didn't account for any falls to snappy in recent times. Basically, if you are going to just get 7 snapdragons, you get better profits for toadflax. But you basically need 5 to cut even, so Snapdragons are high-risk. I personally do toadflax since is easier for me to track my earnings, and I make one potion (another type) for every toadflax I farm. Miner52289
I'd go for unlocking My Arm's patch. Use Supercompost and probably just do Toadflax or maybe Kwuarm, idk about kwuarm though cuz the seeds shot up in price. Magic Secateurs i believe give you a 10% boost in the yield of herbs/allotments (correct me if I'm wrong but i'm pretty sure i read it...somewhere) Slayer DropsDragon Chainbody (dust devil), Dragon Platelegs x2, Dragon Plateskirt x3, Dragon Boots x38, Dragon Med Helm x5, Dragon Spear x3, Shield Left Half x4Staff of Light x2, Abyssal Whip x16, Dark Bow x17, Granite Maul x17, Focus Sight, Hexcrest x2, Black Mask x4, Leaf-bladed Sword, Mystic x31, Obsidian x13, Brine Sabre x2, Spirit Shield, Dragonstone x5

dutchstyle
personally I plant a snapdragon in my arm's patch (from the quest) and 4 kwuarms in the other ones, averaging about 100k profit every herb run (not making stuff in pots) why kwuarms? theyre 8k or so a seed so you wont lose much if they die + the herbs are about 3,2-3,5k ea so you'll get the cash back used on seeds easily. edit: withdraw: runes or tabs to go to trollheim, camelot and eventually ardougne (could use skills necklace for ranging or fishing guild) your magic secateurs, 5 supercompost an explorer's ring 3, an ectophial, a rake (incase you don't replant your seed quick enough) a seed dibber and a spade for digging up dead herbs, take about 5-10 tireless runscrolls and have a terrorbird summoned. equip the magic secateurs to save some space - start of at any bank and withdraw your supplies except the snap seed - tele to ectophial and harvest old herbs, re compost and plant a kwuarm seed, drop the empty bucket - tele to cabbage field using cabbage port on your explorer's ring, do the same here and store herbs in terrorbird if your out of inventory space - tele to camelot and do your herbs here, plant a kwuarm aswell and bank: your herbs, your ectophial your explorer's ring (don't forget to empty your terrorbird), withdraw a snapdragon seed and teleport to ardougne and plant a kwuarm there -tele to trollheim and go upstairs in the troll stronghold and harvest your herbs, plant a snapdragon and tele to any bank you want. (use tireless run scrolls at any time your energy gets below 30ish) hope this made stuff a bit clearer #4500 to 91 rc - 03-03-

Zaaps1
Ranarrs, Toadflax, Kwuarm, and Snapdragon are the most profitable. They are in worst to best in that order, and also in level order. But that's based off data I've gotten and calculated a few months back. ~It's Super Effective! Troacctid
I made a spreadsheet of the best herbs to farm. You can find it on Google Docs here. You should be able to edit the prices to make the chart update itself automatically. For today, the most profitable are, on average: Toadflax > Ranarr > Snapdragon > Kwuarm Dwarf Weed are the best option if you prefer instead to focus on the experience. If you buy and sell at median without cleaning the herbs, and you don't include the cost of supercompost, then the average profit per seed (assuming an average harvest of 6.5 herbs) is 19.0k for toadflax, 17.8k for ranarr, 16.9k for snaps, and 14.6k for kwuarm. (As well as 8.1k for Dwarf Weed.) These will, of course, fluctuate daily, so watch your prices. This link should provide you with the prices you need to stay informed on the best herbs to farm. spooferfish
So if I plant some herbs in a patch with super compost, then just leave em, will that work most of the time? I have a lot of herb seeds in my bank, and using only My Arm's patch is rather slow. I want to just plant higher end more important herbs there...
