Spiders are far faster, safer, and AFKable. I get 64k XP\hour at spiders without even clicking.

This is garbage. They, like all monsters become aggressive, and 64k XP and hour, seriously...

Spiders. An alternative would be zombies, since they drop a lot of steel arrows.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

I am currently attempting to get 90 range in f2p as well, I am at starting at 78. Dont do Lessers for sure, I was doing them and they are dreafully slow and they get crowded as well sometimes. Mossies are also a lot of times crowded, I am guessing spiders are the best but I dont know a safe spot to keep me from getting hit. I have 85 defence so I am probably going to get hit and would rather not go back for food. So spiders definately if you can find the right spot.

Good luck!

That's because you're P2P and have access to knives and equipment with a high range bonus. He's limited to green dragon hide and the other crap from TOG.

Spiders are the way to go, and if you go to General Guides, I have a massive range guide that includes a F2P section.

Simple question. Which is faster: Spiders in SoS, Moss Giants or Lesser Deamons?

Starts in Signature.

Thank you in advance.

I'd probably safespot ice giants in the ice caves.

Thats like Safespotting at mossies...Too crowded and way to slow...

Sept 17th 2008:

If you want fast, get some bronze arrows(or iron if you want to spend the extra money) and go power train range at the zombies in the wilderness. They are right outside the bounty hunter entrance and they are aggressive with low hits. Don't even worry about rev's.

Wear full D'Hide with a bow and fill your inventory with some cheap food.

It's one of the best spots for range training if you're not picking up arrows. 70 shouldn't take too long, 30-40k exp per hour.

I dont think 30k-40k a hour is a correct number... The fastest exp in F2P for ranged is,was and will always be Ice Giants at about 20k exp a hour.

I vaguely remember the same topic being asked before and I managed to find the posts above. On Sept 11th, juxtaposing Ice Giants and Moss Giants, you said that safe-spotting was too crowded and way too slow. Then later on, you said Ice Giants is the fastest exp for F2P's Range. Currently, it's back to the description of 'dead slow and boring' again. ;) So.... what now? Guess Ice/Moss Giants are 'Busted'...

As for Lesser Demons, you'd be competing with other safe-spotters for them, as mentioned by gold514191, unless play-time is right. Our very own Forsakenmage trains there though so it wouldn't be any wrong to go there to get some exp + chance at a Rune Med drop. 'Plausible' but not the fastest definitely.

Giant Spiders... with a decent defence and some mix-and-match protection, they will be any F2P high-level players' friends for that journey to a 99 combat stat. With no armour (not sure if their chitinous exterior counts as one), them attacking constantly one after the other plus there's an abundance of them... need more be said? Minimise screen, watch video clips, pick up arrows from all 4 directions every now and then, move to next room to start the aggression if they stop attacking.... Lather, rinse, repeat...

Exp is definitely less than compfreak's 64k per hour for a F2Per but surely faster, if not the fastest, than Moss Giants and Lesser Demons for speed training that is.

Quote from Phyto's Guide: "With speed training, you are normally ignoring drops and most of the time even losing money. Although it has a big price tag, the rewards can be amazing." (Nice and detailed guide by the way Phyto)

I thought this true, but after long hours of training i started doubting this and i was right to doubt. Ice Warriors/Gians are horrible slow.

U must be kidding... i was getting 50k xp/hour at the hobgoblin peninsula powertraining with bronze arrows at 70 range... in f2p

Its never crowded, sometimes a meleer comes by but if ur fast enough he wont be able to attack any hob, so he will log out. And remember, ur ranging across the water, so u CAN attack more than 1 monster at the same time, sometimes i was even attacking 8 hobs at the same time.

After taking a break of 17 months, i had to come back

but everything has changed way too much xD

i knew u wouldnt believe me, but u should try it.

and remember, ALWAYS attack more than 3 hobs at the same time, thats how i was able to get 50k xp/hour.

but i had to take breaks every 1 or 2 hours, the concentration needed to get all that xp is way too much to play more than 2 hours straight

ROFL. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get 50k ranged xp per hour in f2p. I tried power ranging adamant arrows at 98 ranged at the exact same spot..xp was very seldom over 30k/hour. Kysax, please don't lie just to get attention, trust me, people here like you a lot more if you tell the truth. And OT: out of the three spiders would be my recommended choice, just make sure you have a high defence bonus, don't go full green d'hide.

99 Ranged F2P achieved 21 November (2961st)

Forgot to mention I'm a member. Obviously, you have to make them re aggressive every 10 minutes, and drink the range pots, but other then that virtually no clicking for ~5 minutes at a time. As for the XP, feel free to test it yourself. I achieved my results at 95 range, range potting when my level dropped to 103, praying +5% range, in full void, with hunter crossbow, kebbit bolts, and maxed range bonus. I achieved these results over 19 hours of careful testing; without randoms it is roughly 66.2k per hour. Randoms bring that rate down slightly, but not much. Let me know your results.
