Do you think it is possible to make a RuneScape Google Earth, which doesn't show the map, but the actual runescape world? Like a satellite picture. If it is, will anyone be willing to help me getting all pieces of the world and put it together?

 

 

 

Yea, Jagex have made something pretty close, but I want it in full quality, and there may be players running around on the map, so it really looks like a satellite picture (http://www.runescape.com/img/main/kbase ... cation.jpg)

Ehh... sounds like you'd have to match up lighting and other settings too perfectly, and one update by jagex could scrap the whole project. Qeltar does OK with it, but that's only for a small area.

Yea lighting and the angle might be a problem, and updates to the map won't be so good either.

 

 

 

However you can switch the lighting effects off, and when jagex update something on the map, we can 'easily' update it by taking a new photo. I know it sounds like a very difficult project, but I think we should give it a try.

Im not saying its a bad idea... But whats wrong with the world map? Its fast and easy. And tbh, if someone made one i would look at it once, then never again. :?

It's a post a made a couple of years ago. (not sure if the photo link works as my worksite blocks the image host). If it still loads, it's WAY, WAY, WAY out of date. I just pieced together the topographical maps from the knowledge base. It's not very useful, but I think it looks cool.

How exactly do we take the pictures? I dunno how to zoom out of my runescape character like the people who made the mini clip for the log-in screen. I could help with this, I got lots of time both irl and in runescape (bored).

I still don't know why Jagex has not released a "Satellite" view of the Runescape map. I really want to see what the world looks like with the HD rendering.

 

 

 

As for the zooming, well, it's a matter of how much detail Jagex gives us. I'm for it (hopefully, the rendered maps also show monster spawn points).

Slayer Cave, lumbridge swamp cave, etc.) all on one map instead of having to search for an individual one on Tip.It or anywhere else, that would be tight.

This could be done easily, but it would require breaking the RuneScape Terms and Conditions and a good knowledge of Java and reverse engineering. So don't bother.

We have started building a worldmap with an underground layer (plus an additional layer for non-locateable places) on our German runescape helpsite

you need to press the red "!" from the button menu to see the underground map.

 

 

 

But building an underground map is not too easy, since the runescape underground world does not fit exactly at a all places. If you place one entry to a dungeon at the right place, then a second one might not fit with the main worldmap.

It's just the same as the normal map but expanded, if you know simple Java you can stretch the one on the RS site anyway...
