Inconsistency? (Dragon Square Shield and Dragon Platebody)

Hello everyone,

I rarely create threads questioning the logic of RuneScape or RuneScape in general. However, I decided to post what was on my mind. I am questioning the consistency of repairing the Dragon Square Shield and the Dragon Platebody.

Primary Information (Repairing):

* Dragon Plate Body - 92 Smithing, Blast Fusion Hammer, Dragon Forge

* Dragon Square Shield - 62 Smithing, Hammer, Anvil

Secondary Information (Equivalent Requirements):

* Rune Full Helmet - 92 Smithing, Hammer, Anvil

* Mithril Battle Axe - 62 Smithing, Hammer, Anvil

Now as you can see here and known for a while by many, it doesn't take high smithing to repair, or fuse, the two halves of the Dragon Square Shield back together. However, it takes a high smithing level to repair, or fuse, the three parts of the Dragon Plate Body back together.

Okay I can deal with that. However... I remember reading about someone questioning Jagex as to why a Dragon Square Shield can be split into two parts in the first place. The response said about the origin of the Dragon Metal not being known and the ignorance as to if there are magical properties to Dragon Metal. However, if the reason for both the Dragon Square Shield and Dragon Plate Body being split in the first place had to do with magical properties, why doesn't the Dragon Square Shield require a Blast Fusion Hammer and Dragon Forge to be repaired like the Dragon Plate Body?

It's too late for Jagex to go back and change anything but maybe the Smithing Level. So bringing it up isn't much use, but this is what was on my mind.

its consistant PLATE body SQUARE shield, not Chainbody. also square = 2 pieces so say 30 smith levels per piece which is 60 smith, and the plate is 3 pieces so 90 smith

There's a long-standing conspiracy theory about how the halves of the square shield visually look like they should form a kite, not a square, and that perhaps just smithing them together is a lossy process, making a smaller shield than it should. Has anyone tried taking the shield halves to the dragon forge to see if there's a hidden dragon kiteshield update in there?

Not that I expect anything to come of it, of course, but it's an amusing thought.

Because it looks like a kiteshield and everything.. And even if it did, the DFS's stats are too good to be dragon armour. Seriously, who said that the DFS was the kiteshield?

Cool.

Im kind of upset you have to repair dragon anyway. Rune doesnt need to be repaired, and is cheaper, and is just as sufficient.

If you dont have the smithing levels, i wouldnt even get a D plate or D sheild.

And, if the DFS is the kitesheild, im quite let down :|

First of all, you shouldn't expect too much logic in a fantasy game.

Second of all, let's look at these dragon items. The dragon square shield comes in two halves, and all that you're doing is repairing it. You're not smelting the metal, hammering it into shape, and putting together the pieces. You're just repairing a crack. The dragon plate is made using a special tool at a special forge, so you can't compare that to smithing regular smithing either.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking as well. Instead of making it from scratch, you're making it from two perfectly formed pieces.
