Why hate on Noobs?

Setsuna

Recommended Posts

Hey, Heres the thing. I have a main account lv 79 and all so I understand what it was like to be a noob. I have a new account and its fun to be a noob. Its a skiller lv 28, and yea so what if its low. Players like lv 30 - 50s keep bagging on lower lvls like they never been a noob. Really would you hate on a noob, when you have so much power?

lol "bagging" heard that one before from the ghetto-wannabe white girl who sits behind me in English.

But 30-50s?

Those are epic noobs, a Level 30 caling someone a noob is just hilarious.

lol... making fun of noobs why?

well maybe because with the extra updates its getting easier.. and so more expeirianced players deserve to make fun of em cause they are getting levers easier (like say your lvl 60 right when maybe rs2 came out and then your lvl 120 with tons of updates that would of made your life easier and you see a lvl like 20 just zooming through)

im sorry if im not making sense... :wall:

but maybe one day... youll be hacked and you have to start over and the same noob you made fun of is now lvl 89.... hmmmmmmm.......?

Maybe, you guys don't get the concepts. You too were once a noob. Players are players right? Besides You say all that stuff, becaues you think your high and mighty. Well think again.

Agreed.

Making fun of noobs is pretty much like seniors in high school making fun of freshman. It's stupid, pointless and most people probably do it because other people do it and make them think it's the "right" or "cool" thing to do or just because it makes the senior (or high-leveled character) feel important. But what's the point? Everyone was a "noob" once upon a time.. everyone was once clueless, low-leveled and giddy about rune armour.

because... im a noob so i need to think others are more nooby than me. plus, its realy fun.

It's sad that so many people have this attitude. This is basically how bullies in school start. "Making other people feel like crap makes me feel powerful and important." You say you're a noob.. well you probably don't/didn't like it when people make/made fun of you, so why turn around and do it to others? That's just heartless.

I don't think calling someone a noob is nearly as emotionally damaging as bullying can be. However, if someone is harassing you online through means of swearing and really insulting you then I think that's where the line is drawn. You shouldn't do that online anyways because you can't make a fair judgment on a person just based on their skills in a game.

Idk - correct me if I'm wrong.

But Noob is from Newbie, as in beginner.

I think that the word has evolved to such a point where its just the all encompassing insult.

You know, where "Stupid, U Noob" can just hit through any armour, straight to the core.

Most of the time the person I call noob is being annoying, or is actually a beginner... If you see me in GOP saying, "Noob, off!" - it probably mean just that, get off my orb because you have no idea what you're doing, hence noob.

But remember, until you reach cmb level 60, you're still a noob (unless you're a skiller/have a main.)

'Noob' nowadays is referring to more of an attitude than players' combat levels. A seemingly low level player may be a noob to someone but if this low level player has a good attitude and 'gaming-etiquette' (is there such a thing :? ?), then is he/she still considered a 'noob'? A newb maybe but not the deragatory 'noob'.

A high level player may seem to know a great deal about the game but yet goes around annoying people, doing stupid stuff, picking fights and trying to look superior by insulting people etc... that's the kind of attitude that's deemed 'noobish' I guess.

Or someone can be doing the wrong things or not training skills efficiently but yet turns a deaf ear to players giving good advice... not sure that classifies under 'noob' or just plain stubborn. :)

Tell them to go sit on a bronze arrow... Oh wait - they aren't noobs so they have a high enough level to sit on a rune one instead. ;)

Broad arrow! It'd hurt more. \'

Why not Dragon arrows? How about Rune javelins... Nobody uses them...might as well not waste them

You are confusing "noob" with "newbie".

Newbie is rarely used because it is the more polite version of the two. It means "new player".

Noob means "idiot", "jerk", or just something to make fun of somebody. It's an affront.

Not all noobs are newbies, and not all newbies are noobs

If you want some "proof" that "noob" means "idiot", take off the "n" which stands for "new" and see what you're left with. I'm pretty sure you're left with the last three letters of a word that means "idiot" (that is spelled the same backwards and forwards in singular form.)

I personally wouldn't consider you a noob because it is the right thing to assume that people are good and let them proof themselves to be bad, instead of the other way around (It would start a giant loop of a downhill snowball). However, I would consider your accounts both newbies because of the level. Probably after lvl 70 is the player considered "not a newbie" because they should have general knowledge of the game.

That's all nice and sunshine, but what about the Level 3 skillers that know more about the game than most P2Pers?

You never made any exceptions.

I consider "noob" to be a term, like "good" or "bad" or "stupid," that is best applied to deeds, rather than those who perform them. Way I see it, if you stand in the Castle Wars lobby for ten minutes shouting "Buying law rune," you are being a noob and I reserve every right to make fun of you. (On the other hand, if I'm in a good mood, I might hand them a dozen or so law runes to get them to shut up for a week.) If you were to ask me why that is nooby, I would also reserve my right to call you a noob. Sometimes people really are nooby, that's all.

Sorry, why do YOU have a right to make fun of someone for wanting to trade a law rune?...loads of people do it.

In this instance, I get the impression you are one of those absolute idotic high level characters that ignores low level people because you feel the right to be immature and pompous? Thought so. I guarantee more people would be annoyed by people like you calling people noobs for no reason immature. Therefore, I would also give you a title of noob. In this case meaning idiot.

Because it's nooby? Do you not see the problem with only buying one teleport at a time so that you have to buy a new one each time you want to teleport? If it takes you ten minutes to find someone to sell you a law rune, you could have walked to where you needed to go in that same time. It defeats the whole purpose of having law runes in the first place: so that you can go where you need to go when you need to go there. Anyway, it's much easier to buy this stuff in the Grand Exchange. Just because loads of people do it doesn't mean it's not nooby.

I'm not sure whether to dignify this with a response...XD

Okay, I'll just say that this attempted slight on my character falls apart at the "for no reason" and the "Thought so." Why? Because there is a reason, and because what you think is wrong. :P
