How long Does it take for Directors of Boards Decisions to influence game content?

When did Updates start becoming bad/buggy/glitched?

For some reason everytime I hear of Geoff Iddisons' Name I think that he was the reason that the game has been going downhill >_<

Note that it said "income". Income doesn't subtract the costs to run. Since there are more f2p than p2p worlds, would the f2p profit for Jagex actually be less than 7%?

You can figure out how much raw income they get from F2P and P2P, but when you try and go into costs it gets crazy. F2P may mean they require more servers and more support staff, but it also means they have to spend less on advertising and gives them economies of scale. If you consider it a marketing tool then if it actually makes money then that is a bonus.

@zaaps1 - True, there may be more f2p worlds. But lets remember that P2P can use those too (usually for pvp stuffs).

@me - What support staff? :P

@me - Actually, I'm under the impression that F2P and P2P share the same staff, hence the automated message. I might be wrong though.

@sees all1 - I'm confused. Do you mean that p2pers in f2p worlds would cost Jagex more money? Well I personally don't know many members who spend a lot of time on f2p. I personally only went onto f2p worlds 2 times during my memberships, and each was 1-2 hours in length. I'd estimate maybe 1k members actually spend much time on f2p, and if you look at that, it's only half a server. Then add in that most servers are rarely full, and p2p'ers on f2p worlds would most likely most Jagex next to nothing.

Wow, Nice find! :twss: This is really interesting, hmm, when with the '08 graphs come out?

Yes, you are correct. However, one could assume that less staff would be needed if there wasn't F2P.

who is ian gower

From what I can tell he is the youngest of the Gower brothers (Andrew being 30 and Paul 32) and lived with Andrew and co in Nottingham back in the day. He was credited with doing "Graphics and 3d-modelling" as a freelancer for RuneScape Classic and later with converting the Fight Arena and Goblina Diplomacy quest to RuneScape 2. Before RuneScape he did some of the graphics for Andrew Gower's Battlezone game for the Atari ST (released under their Cunning & Devious name).

Jagex's 08 accounts are due at the end of January, so as soon as they are accessible I'll add the data to my spreadsheet and make some new graphs.

So, despite the free trade update that apparently "killed" runescape, jagex is making more money than ever.

so much for all the doomsayers going on about how runescape is practically empty. :wall:

Was he Brother of Cousin? (cousin rings a bell)

I know he was responsible for the Player model graphics in RSC, although that's not something to be all that proud of :P

Ian, Paul and Andrew as far as I am aware are the only Jagex staff members who do not have Mod at the beginning of their name, saying that though, not sure about Constant Tedder.... he may Have a Pain name account, but have never heard of reference to him playing the game.

Do we know a figure for the actual annual reinvested profit for Jagex, graph format showing over several years would be interesting

*Interesting trivia point*

for a long time Jmod accounts where not allowed to have Andrew in the name, in response to mistaken identity, instead they often used nicknames, or initials.

Nicely done.

Was he Brother of Cousin? (cousin rings a bell)

Some places on the Internet say he is a cousin, some say brother. I know that Rob Law (who worked on Romeo & Juliet and Prince Ali quests) referred to them as the "Gower brothers" and I know that Ian lived in the same house that Andrew, Paul and their parents lived in (and Andrew originally operated RuneScape from after leaving Cambridge University). I don't think their actual relationship is actually stated anywhere officially.

I believe Constant had Mod Constant but never really used it. There were some other mods back in the old days like Moderator which weren't Mod X but they lost their powers when Andrew moved it all in-house.

The retained profit from 2004 to 2007 is £13k, £520k, £1.76m and £10.1m and their profit/loss account from 2002 to 2007 is -£25k, £178k, £274k, £795k, £2.6m and £4.1m. Their dividends from 2004 to 2007 were £350k, £1.4m, £5m and £8.6m. Not sure how much of that was 're-invested', I'd need help from someone who knows accounting.
