February 7, 200917 yr A short-spear in zero gravity. No assitence from anything, its just you and the spear. Killing yourself with it doesn't count. Why no assistance from anything? I can think of 200 things that can kill you if we start to make rules. Because usually I expect a single object to kill without assitance. With assitance, anything is possible. How can a grenade kill if nobody touches it or does anything with it and its in a vacuum? Pureprayer, you're awesome.

February 7, 200917 yr Proton mass: 1.672^-27 kg Anti-proton mass: 1.672^-27 kg c: 3x10^8 m/s E=mc^2 E=(1.672^-27 kg + 1.672^-27 kg)*(3x10^8 m/s)^2 E=3x10^-10 J or E= 3 tenths of a nanojoule That's the maximum energy you're going to get from a single proton, and since an apple falling from a 1m high tree only releases 1joule (or ten billion times the energy of a proton's rest energy), I don't see how splitting a proton/anti-matter joining bologna could ever kill you. I don't know how to put this in simpler terms.Well, I guess I can't argue with that. That's it? No Ownage? Dude you forget to put your thinking cap on? Ah well, would proton traveling at light speed have the ability to kill you or is it too small?

Ah well, would proton traveling at light speed have the ability to kill you or is it too small? You saying we got a winner? :oThat wouldn't work. It doesn't make sense though, as in, the energy at rest is accurate. But, the fact that they move implies that they have more; kinetic. Splitting one, however, wouldn't give enough energy off. The total amount of energy, in current states - while moving - give off much more energy. Depending on how we use that, it's possible. Logically though, a proton could be fired at speeds slightly slower than light, hitting the nucleus of an atom. The neutrons then go off, doing the same to others. I don't know if you would consider that a way off death.
February 7, 200917 yr This discussion comes up in my house every so often. Something that can't kill you, is a chemical mixture composed of about... 78.08% nitrogen 20.95% oxygen 0.93% argon 0.038% carbon dioxide 1% Water Vapor (H20) And trace amounts of other gases. More commonly known as air. Any other impurities would not be air. They would be impurities IN the air. Not true. While oxygen gives us life, it ultimatly is at least partly resposible for our aging proccess becuase it does damage to our cells (starting around 10 years old I think). As we get older, our body losses the ability to prevent and later resist the damage oxygen does. Ultimatly, if you were to breathe pure oxygen for your entirelife, it could actualy be your cause of death. The same is true for the oxygen in air. I figure there are otehr factors to aging though, so AIR might not be able to normally, even with oxygen ultimatly doing us harm, but if you lower the pressure of the air enough, you will effectively sufficate even while breathing.

I don't know if you would consider that a way off death.[/hide] the key thing here is we are talking about one proton, if your shooting a proton into a chain reaction then the chain reaction/particle accelerater caused your death. Maybe in the technical sense the proton lead to your death but if we go by that line you cant die from a knife since it would be blood loss. Orthodoxy is unconciousnessthe only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.

You have it backwards, in your analogy, it would be the start, or the chain reaction following. So, it would be the guy with the knife > knife > and then blood loss/loss of motor functions.
February 7, 200917 yr eh were starting to border on semantics its hard to be completely realistic when debating this, clearly if someone shoots you they killed you, but the bullet also killed you and so did the blood loss. Its all a matter of how we want to define cause of death, if we allow chains anything can set off a fatal reaction, but if we completely exclude them a bullet cant(you cant swallow a bullet on accident without something causing it) Orthodoxy is unconciousnessthe only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.

They wanted to have sex, but they couldn't find the right pacing, until they went to church one day and heard the church bell. They thought they'd go at it to the ringing of the bell, so they started making passionate love in the graveyard. This works for a few weeks until one day churchgoers come to church to see a few cop cars, and an ambulance parked in front of the graveyard, and they see a very upset grandma. They ask what happened, to which she replied... [hide=]If that goddamn ice cream truck didn't come by, he'd still be alive.[/hide] I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. February 9, 200917 yr A supercannon can't kill you! I mean, every suggestion has been owed because of the fact a supercannon can shoot it at the speed of light. Which means! if a supercannon shot an atom or a pacifist at you, it would be either the atom or the pacifist that caused your death, not the supercannon. Or to keep things simple, a single raindrop.
