I was just doing slayer and found out that I had 388 points. I have been using the fairy master and I thought that since I need to do 2x fairy to get my helm, might as well go to the master in Shilo!

 

 

 

So I got there, talked to the guy and he gave me the task: 181 waterfiends!

 

 

 

Now, I have heard of these creatures before and how they drop nice crimsons. So I follow summoning guide in AOW and got the equipments.

 

 

 

I am using:

 

Helm of N

 

Fury

 

Rune Defender

 

Dragon BAxe

 

Karil's top and skirt

 

Dragon Boots

 

Saradomin Godcape

 

Ring of life <--- I'm scared of dying =o

 

Barrows glove

 

 

 

I've been there but I find that these things are just too crazy for me..I also tried praying range but their magic attack just rips my pants =/

 

 

 

Any ideas? =o

 

 

 

My combat stats are:

 

80 atk

 

80 str

 

77 def

 

80 hp

 

55 summoning

 

61 prayer

 

66 magic

 

71 ranged

It's probably that the dragon battle axe is not killing them fast enough. I recommend you buy(or borrow) either a Zamorakian spear or a Sara Sword(on crush!) as it really makes a difference.

Yea, I did try buying Z Spear on GE on medium, but no one was selling.

 

 

 

So I just went and buy a D BAxe

Only problem would be the weapon and really if you were using the baxe special... thats not really smart to do. If you can't get a better weapon you should use barrel chest anchor or even a v flail.

 

 

 

By the way use a black mask if you haven't already.

Zamorak spear/ss is your best bet in killing these.The 2 weapons are fairly cheap to borrow, 10k/hr or so.

you can also expect to get hit a lot with 66 magic and 79 def. I'm at 99 def and 95 magic and they give me a hard time. Usually do them in 2 trips and it used to be 3 trips before I got 68 summoning for bunyip. They are a pain for sure, but their drops and charms compensate.

Ok you have 3 options right now:

 

 

 

1) Pay 30 points to cancel the task and get another. You should get 75 points from this Shilo Task anyway.

 

2) Buy a better weapon or raise your magic, the most probably reason is either that your mage level is too low or your weapon isn't cutting through them fast enough. The quickest fix is buying a Zammy Spear or borrowing that or a Sara Sword. (SGS works as well, it may be more useful for you if you are borrowing.) However if you've been putting off leveling mage for a while, now is the perfect time to.

 

3) Buy guthans. Use guthans the entire time on Crush and pray range. You should be fine, but this is much slower.

 

 

 

The fact that you don't have a bunyip can also contribute to this. Generally if you don't have 68 summoning or don't have guthans, Waterfiends aren't the best option.

I do have about 2k deaths and bloods, was thinking of ice bursting lobs, but that's after level 70 magic ..

There are better ways to level mage, but as I wrote above, if you're in it for the quick fix you're better off investing the a ZS, SS, or Guthans.

The problem with Guthan's is that it's dangerous; if you lag at the wrong time you're dead. Usually it'll heal you enough that you only have to pray range part of the time; but sometimes Guthan's decides to be an [wagon] and the waterfiends will rip you even with prayer.

 

 

 

The loss in speed is more important, though. Use a z spear/ss.

Guthans is pretty obsolete there, using it would just cause unnecessary trouble. Restocking on supplies for Waterfiends doesn't take long, since the distance from bank to that place isn't far with Games Necklace.

 

 

 

Nothing bad with your setup or stats, but do replace Helm of N with Black Mask. If you can't get hold of an SS or ZS, buy a Verac's Flail (a little over 100k) for killing them.

 

 

 

If you keep getting ripped by their magic attack, bring more food instead of prayer potions. You should be able to manage this task in a couple of trips.

I can do about 60+ fiends a trip with my stats and my mage is the only thing higher than yours. Just go with karils, z spear, pray str bounus and protect range. Super str and att as well. ;)

Nope, all are either strength or controlled.

Specials should be any godsword special, d mace, anchor, or ancient mace.

 

I'm only suggesting them cause they're 'cheap', and GS's are so popular now I bet you have a friend or a few with one or more >.>

Verac's Flail, Torag's Hammers, Dragon Mace...

 

And statius warhammer :lol:

Get a black mask or slayer helmet. The difference this provides you is incredible and you will find yourself killing them at a decent rate. I just use SGS on crush it works well, and I'd assume SS on crush is just as good cuz of the wep speed.
