The Dark Lord
Why did it rise anyway? In the GE database, the icon still looks the same. When I went to see it in the actual GE, the icon looked sort of like a cross between a dragon platebody and a yak hide top. There appears to be no change to the actual item though. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

Well, there was a little change. Icon in inventory looks differently now. But regardless, everyone's consensus is that there was some change, so demand is higher now - people want to check by themselves. I suspect it will cool off rather soon. cat666
Only when they demand for the item and a supply to match it happens, or a better looking/ stat boosting plate is released ;) Plenty of plates look better. Black (g) looks the best but it's stats suck. There are better plates stat wise too. All Barrows & Bandos. Dragon is always going to highly sought after as it is more a status symbol than useful armour. When WGS was released everyone who could did the quest, and those that were close got there stats up to do it. Therefore there was mass of dragon lumps coming onto the market. Also the Tormented Demons were a piece of cake to kill. More lumps in the market. People realised that the dragon plate was a pile of poo and those that bought it to be the first to have it quickly got rid. So it dropped. Now there are not as many people doing WGS and TD's are harder so there isn't as much lumps coming out. People who want the plate for status and/or to complete the full dragon look usually cannot make it themselves (high stats people tend to prefer Bandos) and therefore have to purchase from other players, and now there demand is higher than the reasonabley low supply. Also merchanters have a hand in it. Trust the Gene Genie!
Mercifull
Saw the price coming back up so sold my lump for about 3.6m. I figured id already missed out on the big bucks by doing the quest late and its been taking up a bank space for weeks without giving me a penny so was happy to get that amount. Unknown_Warrior
Calling the Dragon Platebody crap isn't anywhere near true. It's still the third best non-degrading Armour in RuneScape. First being the Third Age Platebody, which isn't exactly accessable to all, and the second being Bandos Chestplate, which actually has less melee defence than its Dragon counterpart. The only reason people like it is because of the 'OMFG IT GIEVS +4 STR DAT [bleep]ING OWNZZZZZZZZ'-mentality of RS. As you said 3rd Age is out for most, as are the PvP dropped armour. Bandos is affordable to most, especially if you can afford Dragon and the 3 Barrows plates are actually cheaper, even if you factor in the (low) repair costs. Trust the Gene Genie! You can hardly class Barrows in the same degrading league as the PvP armour. Barrows is dirt cheap, by the time you've bought a d plate you could have maxed all stats with Barrows armour and still have spare cash! Trust the Gene Genie!
