Nadril Posted February 25, 2009 Share Posted February 25, 2009 http://www.quakelive.com/#home What is Quake Live? Quake Live is a free to play browser FPS which is supported through advertisements. I have been in the closed beta for a while and today they have opened their doors to anyone who is willing to play (Open beta I think, but anyone can join in). Quake Live is pretty much an exact version of Quake III modified to be played in the browser. All it takes is for you to install a small plugin (think runescape how you had to download something the 1st time) and then you are good to go. (The plugin is a .MSI so Linux/Mac users will need to run it through WINE) My time in the Closed beta was a lot of fun but, of course, I suck at Quake III and as such I got my [wagon] handed to me haha. I think we have the ability to create servers though, so I'm sure a bunch of TIF people could get together and play. I do have to say that QuakeLive is awesome for playing in between flight paths / waits in an MMO, or for the runescape players out there playing it in another browser while you mine or do whatever runescape players do. Only problem is that the servers are overloaded as hell right now, with a 33,000+ Queue (thought WoW was bad?) so I would wait for the hype to get down haha. Go ahead and post your user names and such, maybe I'll try and just keep a list up to date here. Epicness, it's a lot of fun and is fast paced, but I'm sure I'm not the first to say this, but it's really whoever spawns closet to the guns usually dominates. I've never played any quake game before, so the 'different' type of combat is really making me feel embarrassed with 0:2 k/drs, lol. I think that I'll probably be above average (not saying much, but it's alright). The real question is if you would be able to run this thing on dialup. If I can find that out, you can expect to see me on there pretty often. My name on there is Aleucard.
