A while ago I really liked them, and I got two of their records, but I don't play them much, so I kind of lost interest in them. Is it any good? It's technical as ever and more much more progressive, but the concept is just bad and "The Czar" is boring imo. Still a pretty good album, not as good as Leviathan though. I always thought they are pretty interesting band (I only heard Leviathan and Blood Mountain), something else than what I am used to, but as said earlier: I don't know much about metal.They're not bad, but I never really got into them. I found it a bit awkward to listen to more 'straight-up' sludge metal after dipping into Neurosis, Isis, Cult of Luna and Callisto; and because I listened to these bands that combined sludge with post-rock and ambient music, Mastodon simply felt a little bare in comparison. Heard one song, and I didn't like it, though I like Death-core, metal-core and heavy metal only as my favorites (Some times experimental).
