March 11, 200917 yr Led Zeppelin does belong in any discussion involving the beginning of metal, just because they were an influence. They themselves aren't a metal band though.
March 12, 200917 yr Led Zeppelin does belong in any discussion involving the beginning of metal, just because they were an influence. They themselves aren't a metal band though. Thanks nads ;p. Since i cbf making a journal entry or anything :XD:, I figure i should say it here. I started this assignment ahead of schedule because I got bored, today I've been told the topic has to be 'relevant' to people in the school. Yeah metal is alot like rap isnt it? Should I tell my teachers to [bleep] off if this isnt gonna work? I think it will, because if they say it wont i will say it in their faces  I dont need a siggy no moar.

March 14, 200917 yr Lol, there's no real opinion on genre, its written :P. ^What about at the gates? They prty cool. There's a large assignment we're doing at school - on anything we want to, I chose history of Metal. Exta 2 pages: Why i hate hip hop :P History of Metal -> Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Scorpions, UFO, Judas Priest in the beginning Then NWoBHM, shred and glam, in the '80s '90s, Black Metal? '00s, look around I really don't know  Epic fail  I hope you fail/failed that assignment. Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Scorpions are NOT metal. How could you say this isn't like Motley Crue, or even hair metal? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB8HudfbaTE I agree, Zeppelin isn't exactly metal. March 14, 200917 yr ^So I have to repeat myself? Just because a band isnt overall considered metal doesnt mean that a few of their songs cant be considered metal or starting metal itself; which is why I put Zeppelin in my assignment. I wont fail it, and I hope you die if you hope i fail ;l Although, probably the most metal-influencing band is black sabbath, which is top of the list ;p But I never said the scorpions (etc) were metal. I did say, however Black Sabbath Led Zeppelin Alice Cooper <- idc if you dont think so, but my friend DID give a huge long message about why he should be considered, so I did. AC/DC <- same as above, but I really think they're more hard rock lol. Iron Maiden <- what tard wouldnt put them there? Deep Purple and Motorhead. I dont need a siggy no moar.

March 20, 200917 yr ^^ No, keep HIM and Ville Valo away from me Also: Pantera was the first nu-metal band ever, and I was subjected to 30 minutes of that [cabbage]e on Wednesday. Terrible, terrible band. Now this is more like it. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
March 20, 200917 yr ^ :? I'll stick to my MDM for now. I havent touched my assignment for about 2-3 weeks lol. I might do some tomorrow. I dont need a siggy no moar.
March 20, 200917 yr I did say on the first page this was gonna turn into an argument about genres and who/what isn't metal. Oh I'm such a visionary. Anyway, I've been randomly thinking about metal today, cause I got another random note / meme on FB with 'list your favourite' stuff, and I think that my favourite band atm (if I had to give one) would be Moonsorrow. I'm basing that on 'what I feel like listening and how much I enjoy it. That sort of stuff always tends to change with me, though, from a period to another. But right now, Moonsorrow are up there. Don't think anyone's ever mentioned them, in all these metal threads I've been browsing. Oh well. People should maybe try them out. "Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."
March 20, 200917 yr For you symphonic metal dudes (and galls!) the new Delain album is out today. [yt]kzP0aY6BOjw[/yt] Enjoy! Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
March 20, 200917 yr ^^ No, keep HIM and Ville Valo away from me Also: Pantera was the first nu-metal band ever, and I was subjected to 30 minutes of that [cabbage] on Wednesday. Terrible, terrible band. Now this is more like it. Really? Pantera weren't nu-metal at all, they were post-thrash. Personally I think they're great. Haven't put on a Pantera CD in a while, though. Interesting you should bring up Obscura as well, because I listened to it a few more times and decided it's excellent (it's definitely the kind of music that requires multiple listens). Despite seeming like a frantic jumble of dissonant riffs there's something remarkably cohesive about it, especially the drums.
March 20, 200917 yr Also: Pantera was the first nu-metal band ever Actually, Pantera was post-thrash and not nu-metal. You might be thinking of a different band like say, Slipknot We should euthanize anyone who lacks the capability to contribute to society in any way. Please don't elect this man for president in 2012

Terrible, terrible band. Now this is more like it. Try harder. Pantera is not nu-metal, and is actually a great band. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it trash.
March 20, 200917 yr Gee, and I always thought we were beyond the point were it was expected that everybody said "in my humble opinion" behind everything. Besides, Pantere is widely considered to be Trash, right? I wouldn't know by the way, I never listened to their songs. March 20, 200917 yr Gee, and I always thought we were beyond the point were it was expected that everybody said "in my humble opinion" behind everything. Besides, Pantere is widely considered to be Trash, right? I wouldn't know by the way, I never listened to their songs. The first three albums were power metal with some hair metal influences (it was the '80s after all). The band later distanced themselves from said albums (I think they're great though). Even to this day they say their first "official" Pantera album was released in 1990 (Cowboys From Hell). But I digress: it isn't thrash, they called themselves "groove metal".
March 21, 200917 yr Gee, and I always thought we were beyond the point were it was expected that everybody said "in my humble opinion" behind everything. What's that supposed to mean? Besides, Pantere is widely considered to be Trash, right? I wouldn't know by the way, I never listened to their songs. Haha, is this a Freudian slip or do you think they're widely considered to be a crappy band? They weren't really a thrash band, more post-thrash. That basically means they wrote thrashy riffs at a lower tempo and gave their songs a "groove" feeling to them, hence the other name for post-thrash - groove metal. As Azvareth said, though, their first few albums were considered to be glam metal.
March 21, 200917 yr METALLICA FTW!!!.....NO mettallica ftw....forever!! I can't wait for your sig to get owned Tumblr. Follow me!
