A change over 70% in prices, lowering the good so much that it is equal to the buying price. I think it's pretty clear what's happening here. A recent somewhat popular "junk making" method was to quickly purchase goods with a low store price and a high GE price. The banker is Piscatoris also sold fishing nets and harpoons at 5 coins apiece. They were worth roughly ten times that, although not very easy to sell. The change was meant to stop this from becoming an RWT method. After all, there is the potential that someone would make a macro of some sort to rapidly purchase these goods, and use them as junk for RWT trades. So... what's the problem with this decision? Take a look at this. http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/viewitem.ws?obj=9978 Why is Raw Bird being affected? Unlike Fishing Nets and Harpoons, there is a pretty solid market for these. The price may fluctuate, but people are willing to pay for the convenience of not having to buy their own Raw Bird for making pouches. I don't know the actual value of Raw Bird, but I *do* know that time is money, and that the time spent purchasing these birds is worth more than the 0 gp that Jagex set the price to. This is nothing new. Price ceilings have existed before for items that are store-bought, such as berserker helms and the like. But applying them to items traded in bulk, with stores being the prime source, is certainly new. This is likely to create a similar but opposite problem to that of Maple Longbow (u). Recently, Jagex has taken a harsher stance on RWT, shutting down Dragonstone trading, and trying to defeat BH trading as well. Unfortunately, it's not working, since new RWT methods have seemingly arisen (I'm not sure on this, they may be rumors, but just at a glance, it seems people who are RWTing are still going strong). Jagex's steps now, though, seem ominous at best. Are they making mistakes that will lead to more RWT, rather than less? Do we need another Opulent Table situation? Want to learn to Nex? The time it takes to make any of that junk is easily beaten by any DECENT method of money making. If people would rather spend the same time to get a lesser value, made up in junk, so be it. Also their ge Prices were fine. Raw bird meat was used alot, and the rest, while not used as much, was still used a good amount and bought alot. There was no reason to do this... Nothing strange there, no personal, or other bad arguments either. - What makes it distinct from a rant? The fact that he gives reasons as to why something should be changed, and because the topic starter says so: Rants and discussions are almost always interchangebale, it's just what the topic started wants to achieve with the topic! (An open discussion to draw a conclusion wether something is bad/good, or a one sided opinion with which others can agree/disagree, but nobody would change the topic starter's opinion anyways). Now back to the actual topic: Well I've always really, really been frustated at these price ceilings/floors, and actually can't find any valid reason for these: ie in the time someone would get the junk, he could also do another skill and TRAIN+get money faster at the same rate. (for example at 91 rc I would've been able to spend 200 gp / raw bird to play even. (when saying "buying at the ge takes 0 time"). - Why shouldn't I be able to pay someone for that? Same with harpoons (and actually most other things: the time needed to travel somewhere for an item is often waay to much).
