Is it worth it to use Clay Hammers to train Construction?

Featured Replies

why or why not?

oh also which is better for training Construction, oak doors or oak larders? I'm not sure because with oak larders you can make 3 (8x3=24) per inventory, but oak doors I guess you can only do two 3x10=30, so you can obviously only make 2x10=20).

okay... yea I think that's it, thanks

It is definitely a money saver, and if you have points left-over from SC, it is without a doubt a great use for it.

Double xp = Half money spent

(Sorry I don't know which one would be better xp, although I do see a lot more people making the doors over larders)

Oak larders until you can make oak dungeon doors.

Why? It halves your costs. Why not? Because if you have the money construction is quick to train and getting the hammers is quite slow.

Larder vs doors. Use the butler to bring you 20 planks at a time. Doors are just faster. No disadvantages.

It's wasting the money vs. the time spent playing SC.

Calculate the amount of money you save by doing Stealing Creation into an hourly rate.

If that number is less than the amount of GP you can make from doing your own money-making, then you should skip SC.

Well seeing as your already using up a bit of extra time playing the minigame make doors.

yea but you also gotta remember that you get double experience for using clay hammers, so the training is actually twice as fast, if you know what I mean.

It's only twice as fast if you already have the points or the hammers to get the level, but if you don't you have to play the game, which takes time.

You can also go and play the no kill types of games of SC. They last about 12-15 mins due to then just collecting the clay and once all the clay is gone the game ends.

Takes 15 minutes per non combat game of sc (2 mins waiting 13 mins playing) to get a hammer.

Let's assume construction is 200k xp/hour.

A hammer gets you 51k of double xp.

It would take you around 8 minutes to use the hammer, so a total of 23 minutes to get 51k xp. 133k xp/hour. So, it takes you 30 minutes more to get the same amount of xp.

The hammer saves you around 1.3m in planks at the cost of 30 minutes. Absolutely worth it if you even slightly enjoy sc, same thing goes for normal sc with about 22 minutes/game.

thanks, that's what I ended up doing. It was nice though because I had like 5 already in bank, and then I found out I already had 200 points at the game.

It's not like you are uber boring when you play sc too. It's Runescapes most fun minigame.

Takes 15 minutes per non combat game of sc (2 mins waiting 13 mins playing) to get a hammer.

Let's assume construction is 200k xp/hour.

It's actually 1.1-1.2 hammers per game -- I average like 92 points an hour. Every 6 games I gain an extra tool.

So counting that you're going to use more than 7 hammers on con, each 15 minute game will get you 59.5k exp, which takes about 9 minutes to use. 24 minutes for 59.5k exp. 149k exp per hour. You lose about 15 minutes of experience, but you save 1240 planks. Assuming oak planks are 400gp each as a VERY low estimate, thats 496k saved for the loss of 15 minutes of training. In reality, this is over 2m saved per hour, but 400 gp just proves it more.

I'm pretty sure this is right... Actually I think I'm missing something, I dunno though.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

Make mahogany tables with SC hammers. Cheaper than it would be to make oak larders without the hammer.

Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool

I really don't see how some of you come up with these figures.... Each hammer lasts 51k doubled xp, so you're getting half that xp for free from the hammer. So 25.5k xp multiplied times 7.367gp(oak planks are 442gp atm/ by 60xp) is 188k gp saved per hammer. So 3 hammers per hr that's 564k gp, or 4 hammers per hr 752k gp. Most people don't make 600-700k+ an hr, so yes the hammers should be worth it. I'm guessing the calculations above totally ignored the time spent in SC or counted all the xp with hammers as free.

Hmm you're right. Fixed it in the quote below.
