So once again I have wandered away from my beloved blog and into the dark places of teh interwebz (the horror...the horror :wacko:), but not away from the wonderful world of RuneScape. I have been a busy little Kaida the last couple of months and have gained levels galore! \:D/

 

I've also sorted out my image hosting issue and will be using photobucket from now on. Although I will miss ImageShacks' bulk uploader program, photobucket has a web based one that looks like it will be just as good.

I RC'd in RuneSpan (ofc ;)), fished lobsters to 70 and then cooked them, dumped all xp lamps into Prayer, and continued with superheating steel. I've kind of been all over the place, and it's been loads of fun. I've also been using urns as much as possible, and even been crafting them myself 100 at a time. Once they're used up, I know it's time to move onto something else for a bit. I now only have two non-combat skills below 70 - Crafting and DG. I'm going to work on getting them up to 70 as kind of short term mini-goal while I work on superheating all that iron and coal.

 

I also completed the 200,000,000 accounts event. Too bad non mems couldn't keep using the Boogie Bow..although, if we can't why did it stay equipped on both of my other accounts once the event was over? :wacko:

 

 

 

 

 

As you may have noticed, if you were crazy enough to have waded through that whole pile of pics above, I also participated in the Gielinor Games winning the first weight reducing clothing for F2P. :grin:

 

 

 

 

 

And somewhere in all this, I also managed to help with the Diamond Jubilee celebration and got a scepter for my left hand.

 

 

 

 

 

Whew! There we go. The last couple of months, and a busy couple of months they were, all squeezed into one post. I really need to start updating this blog more often. It took me most of the morning to organize this. Oh well, that's what I get for procrastinating. :lol:

Shortly after I made yesterday's wall-o'-pics post, I did a bit of Dungeoneering and got this:

Daemonheim is really the only place I do combat, so for now the levels are few and far between.

 

I'm going to restart my goal of getting an Arcane Blast Necklace, and maybe even a Tome of Frost one day. I've only got around 6000 tokens right now, having bought gem and coal bags, so I've still got a ways to go. Right now I'm only a few thousand xp from 54 DG so I'm going to try and get that tonight, buy my solo times are still pretty high (25+ minutes per small) because I tend to kill and open and mine and smith and craft everything in sight.

 

I know I'd probably get higher xp rates in teams, but then I wouldn't get to kill and open and mine and smith and craft everything in sight. :P

As predicted, I made it to 54 DG last night. \:D/

Which unlocked...nothing. Floors unlock on odd numbered levels. It's been so long, that I'd forgotten that. And yes, that floor took me forever to finish. Three key doors (with all three keys in the furthest three rooms), two puzzle rooms (one of which I'd never seen before and had to look up), guardian doors everywhere and more level 70+ creatures than any three floors normally have. That's easily my worst time for a small since I first started DG'ing. -.-

 

But before gaining that level, I also gained a Defence level.

Which was surprising. Apparently I lied when I said combat levels would be few and far between. :oops: Although, leveling while fighting the boss seems to be an emerging theme.

 

And, finally, I also gained a Crafting level.

All of that from the same floor! It almost makes up for the abysmal floor time. I now have over 7800 tokens, so I'm more than half way to my first rewards goal. I'm going to get in and get some more tonight, and I'm hoping to have the 15500 tokens I need in the next few days.

 

I guess we'll just have to see. We all know how long it can take me to reach even the simplest goals. :lol:

Since Tuesday I've gained a few levels, but for some reason photobucket wasn't letting me upload anything. Then, out of nowhere, it just started working again. Isn't it wonderful how much easier computers have made our lives? :P

 

Anyway, after I posted last I gained a Constitution level

This leads me to focus too much on opening up as much of the dungeon as possible, with as few deaths as possible, and tying to make sure I find/make as much armor as possible, which means I'm not always following the fastest path through and fighting more than I need to.

 

Remember, despite my impressive non-combat skill levels, my melee skills are all still in the mid to high 50's so hand-to-hand combat isn't exactly my forté. ;)

That's why you only do the guardian rooms, otherwise you just run through.

 

When solo'ing time > bonus exp.

 

Finish a dungeon with the least amount of time, and your EXP/hr will rise.

Don't worry about dead ends and killing things in non-guardian rooms, rush each floor for the most EXP.

Nien, your tips really helped. While I'm still not exactly tearing through floors, my times have definitely improved. Last night I averaged around 14-15 minutes and even got as low as 12! \:D/ I'm still stopping for a couple of minutes to craft at the end of each floor, so that's extending my times a bit but it's hard to pass up the free xp. :P

 

I got home really late today so I don't think I'm going to get a chance to try again tonight. I'm planning on getting my DG to an even 60 and then return to superheating. I've been neglecting my smthing, and with over 70k steel bars left to make I really need to get cracking.

Nice level ups Kaida, really seem to be knocking 'em dead ;) When soloing your time is always going to be a little high so don't worry about it. I think when I used to do solo (mind you it was ages ago) I would average around 8-10 minutes as opposed to 5-6minutes duo-ing, or 3-4 minutes in a 4:4 or 5:5 party :P

Bets things to do, personally:

 

- do not kill anything except GD (Gaurdian Doors) and Bosses

- when you start pick up everything on the tables, sell everything except food and buy general tools needed

- do not skill while doing dg (like you said you were doing crafting, if you're going for max exp/hr, it's actually better to trian outside of dg, and save yourself wasting dg exp in the dugneon itself)

- don't make armors, etc.

- just rush everything, as I said earlier, time is the biggest thing when solo'ing, the faster you can do a floor, the overall best EXP you can get, regardless of what EXP/floor you get

That's pretty much what I've been doing, so it's good to hear I'm doing it (mostly) right. :)

 

I even did a floor last night that was nothing but skill/key doors. The only thing I killed was the boss. :grin:

 

I'm ok with loosing two minutes at the end of a floor to gain anywhere from 2-5k Crafting xp, but that's a personal choice. Once I get it up to 70 I'm probably going to stop.

If you get more practice you can probably get it down to 6-8mins/floor.

Aim for 10 floors an hour.

No need to buy tools anymore. And you should also sell food, even though it's better to sell a piece of armor instead.

 

Buy essence & craft some cosmics and laws with it.

Yeah, the toolbelt was an awesome addition to DG. Permanently having a Fractite pick and hatchet, not to mention tinderbox and needle, without using up binds makes me a happy Kaida! :grin: I have been using the rune ess on the start table to make some cosmics and laws, but I tend to keep all the food and any armor I find there. It's really come in handy in keeping me alive. ;)

 

Last night I ran through some more floors and got me some more levels!

Of course, superheating means I need urns so this morning I was running back and forth to the Crafting Guild. I also thought "hey, since I'm mining the clay maybe I should be using a Mining urn and get some free xp!"

 

...that might have been a slight miscalculation on my part. Do you know how long it takes to fill a Mining urn using only clay? :wacko: Oh well, at least I have lots of Smelting urns now. :lol:
