3rd April 2009 - Forums for High level F2P'ers!

Featured Replies

Its not going to be significant, and as far as im concerned it makes alot of people happy, for very little pain for paying members.

i hope they realize this is making them lose money. it's just one less thing members have over F2P.

I'm guessing it probably won't since they'll bomb us with ads. Ads cover the costs of f2p already, so a few more ads should cover the forum cost.

I believe not entirely? :?

So I guess Jagex uses the money from the advertisements to buy beer and laugh about the ignorence of some of the members? I think some f2p people are more mature then alot of members.

In general, i think P2p is much more mature, but there are of course some people are more mature than a great deal of members.

This being runescape and all...

O.O

Wow. I actually remember when official forums were open to everyone and it was total crap.

I won't really be affected though since I (almost) never post there.

Personally, I'm thrilled at the forums being open to a reasonable and acceptable group of free-to-players.

I canceled my membership at the beginning of 2009 and it was somewhat saddening to me that I couldn't help anyone in the 'Quest', 'Clue Scroll', or comment in the 'Recent Updates' forum :(

F2P now have access to the forums.

Many people are pissed of about this. Imo i think they did this beacuse the forums are dying it used to be buying and selling everything buy forums but since the release of the grand exchange Most members pay max price for something other then taking the time to login and look on the forums. Some even go to world 2 and try to find the item before there. Im not for either side but i see it many good things come from this the ftp could use the market forum the Armour forum weapons quest help (really quest help for ftp :geek: ) and other little ones By all means let them have the forums

But when they come to the tip it forums i bring the pitchforks and fire

In my experience, when members come into f2p worlds, I find that sometimes they may be breaking more rules than the f2p players. I have personally witnessed members come onto a f2p world for the sole reason of cursing and solicitation. I cannot say whether in members worlds you find that players are more mature - I can only base my view on what I see.

That being said paying or having your parents pay a fee every month for Runescape membership does not by any means make one automatically mature. I believe you should judge on a person to person basis rather than lumping all members or non-members together and stating that their membership status indicates their maturity level. Not that you did this, but merely food for thought.

What made you come up with that idea? No one knows how the addition of free players to the forums is going to affect the forum situation so it is far too early to make such an assumption.

Money loss is directly dependent on how the quality of the forums are once free players join the fray. It would increase with more good quality suggestions, discussions and opinions or it might decrease with increased "We Want WILDY!" spam.

Also, offering more formatting suggestions such as being able to Bold or Underline your text can be another improvement that will get more forum users on the RSOF.

My main got permanently forum banned years ago. *they still dont let me appeal to it since it doesnt go underblack marks for some stupid reason* well im not bitter over it any more and i figure i probably deserved the bann.

Well i was going to make a new member JUST to use the forums.

Now i can spend 3 days merchenting and 4 days getting 99 cooking f2p. Rofl whats the point of making a member now when i can get on the forums f2p in a week.

You can spend $5 instead of spending a week of being bored out of your mind.

If youre a member currently, and already have access to post on the forums, wed appreciate it if you could give our new forum guests a warm welcome.

Well, if you're a member and don't have access, I think you're the kind of person they don't want to be greeting the newcomers. XD

I was hoping this wouldn't happen...

I am F2P (Don't meet the requirements) , but still, I'm not happy.

Don't we all know that the most mature aren't the high levels? Right?

With this, we could be letting high level idiots into the forums... Instead of the mature players.

if you dont mind me saying, i think experience does show some level of maturity... I dont know if 12mil exp counts for much but i know that if you have 120mil your probably not too immature.

Yeah, correlating experience to maturity is never foolproof. Consider that 12.5M exp doesn't mean that they're mature, but it all but ensures the worst of freeplay spammers are kept out.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

The obvious solution is to make a ftp part of the forum like there is in the game, why didnt they think off that.

In my opinion there is no need to dig an even larger rift between F2P and P2P. F2P on forums allows more F2P and P2P interaction, and if we ignore those spammy "F2P on forum WTF JAGEX" threads, interaction between Free players and Members is quite warm (from what I have seen so far).
