99 Construction Vs. 99 Smithing

I am looking to go out and spend some of my cash, but I also have to get all the sc hammers for the skill, which stinks.

Anyways, I am trying to decide between 99 Smithing and 99 Construction. They both fall in relatively the same price range. Which cape do you think is better, which emote, and which is more respected?

I am going to be busy the next couple of weeks so I guess I will devote that time to playing sc. (I hate that game)

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Well, I personally think smithing is more respected. But construction is still extremely envious... I like the construction emote more though. So it's your choice but I'd prefer smithing

P.S. I think construction would be more useful, you could use your house for all sorts of things...I mean, you'll be able to make everything in smithing but even rune doesn't really help someone who has enough money to get 99 smithing anyway :)

I like the look and emote of smithing cape better. They're both respected in my opinion. Oh, and for SC, try joining the cc SC Claymates. The games are fast since it's non combat.

Both are very rare and highly respected capes, good for you to be willing to spend the money on them.

I see the smithing a bit more respectable, as well as a better emote in my opinion. You cannot go wrong with either of them though, good luck with what ever you choose. ;)

Thanks for the responses thus far, and yes, I join fastsc usually, but I may try that out as well.

........ soooooo, you are getting the 99 because you simple like a cape? If you really want a expensive loveable 99, do con or summon with waterfiends. With 99 construction, at least you would have an awesome house to be able to show to friends, host parties at and all, whilst with smithing, you have nearly nothing, except the cape ofcourse. Go for construction!

Definitely construction. I saw your old thread, and I think you should stick with your old goal

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)

Construction for sure. Although I enjoy smithing more as a skill I can give respect where it is due, and with a Con cape anyone will gain insttant "respect", among other things. (Begging mainly or monemaking tips)

Definitely go with Con since the emote is better as well. Though both, I believe, are equally respected.

Apparently, my signature was to big.

Construction is by far the fastest, so I'd go with that.

(480k xp when using sc hammeres, not counting time to acquire hammers, compared to like 100k smithing xp when making addy arrowtips).

I don't get why you want a 99 that requires sc hammers when you totally hate that minigame though.

Con. You'll use it much more at 99.

Think about the benefits of each.

CON: You get everything you'd ever want in your house and have tons of fun in it

SMITH: You can make rune sets and repair barrows at 1/2 cost

I assume you'll never make a rune set, since you'll lose more money than its worth. So that singles it down to house parties v. cheap barrow repairs. Since I'm assuming you have high smithing already, the extra few levels probably aren't worth the cost.

Thanks for all the help thus far. I am just playing SC lately, so I still have some time to make up my mind.

As for SC, I don't want to waste money if I can save it for nearly the same xp rate. I don't full hate the game, I just find it boring, so I get tired of it fast, but it's not like it is unbearable... I can work through it, ha.

I would definitely vote for the construction cape--so much more useful, and it leads to plenty more ways to spend your excess money (four steel dragons in a dungeon anyone?)

And as for stealing creation, I love it: what I do is switch over to ancients before going. I skill until I have approximately 20k points, and then I thieve/mage for the rest of the game. It's fun, and if you run back to deposit your stuff at the end you get about as many points as you can use. (I've got around 600 points right now, and a few morphic tools+some sacred clay armor)

Take a break then. :P To be sure, the minigame (and game as a whole) was made for entertainment. While achieving goals is fun in its own right, if you are getting tired of something you should be entitled to take a short break, am I right?

You are right, but I get tired after the first game. I usually just have a little time to play one or two games a night as I am extremely busy, so that is definitely bearable. It would be different if I was playing 4 hours a day, I would definitely take a break in that case. :D

Henry: Thanks for your input. As for your strategy, thanks for sharing! I tend to only play in fastsc because I find that more fun and it also means more tools, but I will try that out if/when I don't play fastsc. :D

Why don't you get both to 92? \'

I'd say Smithing is very tedious and the colours on the cape look rather ugly. However, get the most tedious skill at the way with so you'd never return to it again.
