GeneralTedd
I was just wondering, what would be the better investment? (I am training my attack and doing slayer) A Bandos Godsword or A Dragonfire Shield? or should I buy something else entirely? My stats are below and I will be using a whip with the DFS if I buy that. Thanks in advance for your help! [spoiler=Goals][] 30m[] Chaotic Rapier[] Chaotic Crossbow[] Chaotic Kiteshield[] 50m[] D Claws
Seraphi
Neither will help you train attack. DFS may help train slayer, if you get set a lot of dragon tasks.

stonewall337
I sold my DFS for a BGS, and I don't regret it. However, I kill tormented demons a whole lot, and there+ void it is a lot better. DFS is better for slayer, especially kurask, dragon, and range tank tasks. BGS is for monster hunting mainly. Ezkaton
DFS looks beefy, and I personally love that shield so it would come first for me. It's up to you, buy what you want...... but just know this:- 1) People will tell you that to utilise a GS properly you need to have atleast 85+ maybe even 90+ melee stats. 2) GS's of any description don't really have any particular use in slayer except maybe the odd spec with SGS 3) Many people say DFS only enhances your slayer if you have full bandos to work it with If you want to do serious slayer, don't like shared exp, and this money is burning a hole in your pocket then use the money on a sara sword - aka the ultimate strength weapon. But tbh just use a whip and defender for attack and defence or shared Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.2672nd person to reach 2496 total. Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D

GeneralTedd
Hmmm alright thanks for all the advice so far! I'm leaning towards the DFS because I don't monster hunt all that much and am going to do slayer a lot. Maybe a Bandos Plate too, I'm not sure. llamster
DFS is fairly useless for slayer; the only tasks you'd use it for are dragons (irons and steels should be blocked, the blacks are quick tasks, skeletal wyverns and miths are rare tasks). In terms of higher-end equipment, your first priority should be to get a fury. Second would be berserker ring. If you have both and have plenty of spare cash you can go ahead and buy a bandos chestplate. DFS is a worthless, overrated piece of crap. BGS is a worthless, overrated piece of crap. Bandos tassets are a worthless, overrated piece of crap. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
Zaaps1
Godswords are bad for training. They're SLOWER than a whip. Take the DFS. ~It's Super Effective! ultimatballr
(irons and steels should be blocked). No. Irons and steels are fine. No they are slow exp, and are a good block. ------ As for the BGS or DFS debate, go with neither and get a Bandos Chestplate. Make sure you have your fury and d boots (Personally I choose a warrior ring over a zerker) Apparently, my signature was to big.
Bladewing
If you like hunting metals, don't block them. DFS is very overrated. I'd sooner buy a Berserker Ring and a Fury, and then a cannon if you're just going to slay. How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
Jesus_Status
If your sticking to slayer then whip + Defender wins hands down....and about the metal drags, I'd leave irons unblocked as melee owns them, but block steels.
pureprayer
DFS is useless for meleeing anything besides dragons, useful for range only in situations where a summon + SGS simply does not provide enough healing and there are no viable safespots (rare) and PVP magic, where a skilled mage will find Mages book more useful, and an Arcane shield is better period for rich players. I credit someone. Pureprayer, you're awesome.

Sinkhan
Well my friend recently got a visage (Lucky guy...) and then spent the next week switching back and forth between the BGS and DFS since they're roughly the same price. He couldn't determine which one he liked better is still switching back and forth. This would suggest that these weapons are both highly specialized for certain uses, or my friend is just a compulsive equipment switcher  This is what he's told me: BGS -good for monster hunting and a decent KO weapon in PVP -he likes the high hits -makes you feel awesome DFS -best thing for hunting drags, discharged blasts speed things along -seems overall that it's not worth it, but still is a fine addition to anyone's kit -also looks awesome Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
